Walt Disney asking if you've been before?

Why do all the phone answer messages at Disney World ask if you've been to Disney or if you're a returning customer?

I get the feeling that I might be missing some special treatment one way or the other?

Anybody know?

I think it's just a business thing. They want to know how many new customers they are attracting and also how many people come back after a previous trip. It's all marketing data.

I get the same feeling. I agree with the previous poster that it is a "marketing thing", but I guess the marketing thing is to ensure that as a frequent visitor, you pay the highest rate (ie "let's make sure we don't send them a PIN code").

I am sure one of the reasons they ask is that if you have been there before, they can already pull up on your info on the computer and don't have to re-input everything.

From what I have read, they ask this so that they can route the first time caller or visitor to the CM's that have the most training and can give them the best possible customer service.

the phone seems to go through to the CMs (live person instead of machine) quicker when we push 1st time visitor

That may be true about the most knowledgeable CMs catering to first-timers most of the time, but the CM I dealt with last week was sooo nice. He knew his stuff, told me all about alternatives and made suggestions... at the phone prompt, I pushed "returning guest." This CM's service was impeccable; I wish I got his name!

Or U can push 0 for operator until the machine gives up and put you through to a CM.
