I take local competitors ads to Walmart each week to price match and save a little money. Well I read on thier website the policy is that you do not need to have the ads with you. I thought, what the heck. What would keep someone from lying about a price that wasnt actually in a ad.

Because they keep a stack of local ads/circulars at the counter to verify what a customer is asking to match. (At least my Walmart does).

When I have tried to get them to pricematch without the ad, they always give me a hassle. Maybe that is how they keep people from lying-they hassle everyone LOL.

I tried to price match without an ad and they refused, so I don't know why their policy states that you don't need the physical ad.

I laugh every time I see one of those commercials. The Walmart's around here will do anything to avoid price matching. A few weeks ago another store had flash drives on sale and ran out. I think it was Staples, because they don't give rain checks. No problem, drive over to Walmart for their "no-hassle" price match. Two sales clerks show me the flash drive, agree that it's the same one in the ad I'd brought in, just a different color. Get to the register, they say it's not the same one. Call the manager, she says it's not the same one, it has to be the exact model, even if no model number is given in the ad. So much for "hassle-free" price matching.

They run tons of commercials that say that you don't need the ad.

Maybe some are concerned that folks will lie.

I don't think that policy will last for very long.

Mine will only price match groceries from Kroger, not house hold items or electronics from other stores.

I compare prices online often and went to walmart to buy the new xmen movie last week since it was on sale. I got to the store and it was $3 more than they online price. I found that really strange since you can buy online pick up in the store. I brought it with me to the register anyway since I had other things to buy. I asked her to check the price since the sign said a higher price than it was advertised online. I showed her the price on my phone and she adjusted it at the register for me without even needing a manager. I was pleasantly surprised. I was really surprised they didn't have the same price though since they do have the buy online pick up in store option. Just seems silly

Oh Nice! They say they don't match online prices. Online prices are usually cheaper.

Not that I am a Walmart fan but it does say this in their Ad match policy:

•Items purchased must be identical to the ad (size, quantity, brand, flavor, color, etc.)

My Walmart will only match if the item is IN STOCK at the store i want to match them with.

There was a deal a few months ago -- XBox 360 with Kinect at BestBuy for $179 -- (which was a $200 saving!!) BB was sold out went to Walmart and they had them, but they called BB and once they found out they declined the match. (Although we did get a rain check from BB which we used to purchase a few weeks later)

I only ever go to walmart in a pinch be causes it's such a hassle. I went a couple weeks ago for ink to print my resume for an interview the following morning. Of course they only had 3 or the 4 cartridges I needed. Drove to the one the next town over (it was late and those 2 stores were my closest options) and they had the ink but for $1 more than the first store. I was so concerned about getting myself ready for the next day i didn't even bother trying to get the price lowered. One more reason I am not a wal mart shopper.

It's so funny to hear this. I work at Walmart and in our state, everything has to be priced with a price tag. We do by the rule that the customer doesn't have to have the ad with. Well, there is this customer that shops there that we call "Priceline" because she likes to name her own price. She will look at the price sticker on the item and for example, if it is priced $3.48 she will say something like "this is 2/5.00" and so on through the entire order. Our store manager is completely aware of this and will not do anything to discourage/stop it.:confused3

The funny part is that as of Sept 1, we don't have to price tag stuff anymore, so eventually she may have to lose the Priceline name. :)

ALWAYS carry a copy of their policy with you when you want to do this. I have had problems with their "coupon policy" that they don't know about. They hate it at my store when I pull out the policy and they have to honor it. Also don't be afrade to hold the line up and call Corp. right there in line!!!

I don't think that is right...Call corp and let them know what is going on.

Most of the time the store will over look the color issue, the ones that don't just want to be a PITA.

My Walmart will only match if the item is IN STOCK at the store i want to match them with.

I would call Corp about this also. I don't believe that in the AD match policy it says that the item MUST be IN STOCK at the other store for them to price match.

In the end don't ever be afrade to call corp on them in the store if need be. My Walmart knows me and they know I know what the policys are, I know more then 1/2 the employees do, and that I will pick that phone up and call corp right then and there. They know I am the one that gave them their first complant--5 minutes after the store opened--so they know better. I have stood right infront of the manager and called Corp because their cart boy was out side playing with his friends, while on the clock, in the shopping carts and they were running into cars with them. I went in and talked to manager and he wanted to be dumb, so I said hold on one sec I have something better for you. I pulled out my cell and called Corp right in front of him. When I told the person what Walmart I was at, what was going on and that I was standing there with the manager and he is not doing anything about it, the person put me on hold and a few minutes later you hear the manager phone call on line X and the person was back on the phone telling me that it was being handled as we spoke and the manager would be right back over to me. He was mad because Corp made him come say sorry and have to deal with the teen. Sad to say that kid is no longer there. I have corps phone number right in my phone. They don't like me calling then they need to train their people better and they need to stop making up their own rules.

I had a guy almost not give me the coupon discount with the price match. It was for a Disney Blu Ray, I think Snow White, and in the Toys-R-Us ad, it specifically gave the price, and total savings price with the printed coupon. He did take it, but I had to point it out to him that the coupon was in the ad as well, and it was a manufacturer coupon.

Our Wal-mart they don't question the customers. We don't ask for ads unless it something it is really insane.

The Walmart nearest me won't price match anyone because they say all the other stores are too far away.

I have never had a problem with price matching ads at Walmart (knock on wood)....the last time I didn't have the ads with me and she pulled them from underneath the counter and said not a problem.

At our Walmart you jolly well better have the ad of the competitor..they do not have copies of ads at registers. I generally will just GO to the other store with the better price..Walmart has pretty well monopolized our town and I want to support those fighting to survive.
