It seems like every Walmart I visit, the outside area is dirty with litter and the inside looks like it could use a new paint job, cleaning, etc (especially the bathrooms!). How could such a big-name business not be more aware of these problems?

I don't know. I've only visited the Walmart across town and it was neat and clean the one time I was there. I didn't pay that much attention when I shopped at Walmart in Orlando, I can't remember if it was messy or not.

I'm right there with ya!!! I despise WM. The only reason I ever go there is because our bank has a branch there & we live close by.

Not the one in our city, it's clean and very tidy (inside and out). I enjoy shopping here!

I know this is rare, though. When Walmart first wanted to build here, the homeowners in the community closest to the proposed site had a fit. It was all over the news. I guess one of the MANY things that Walmart had to do to get approval was to keep the outside and inside of the store clean and tidy. I have to say, they have done a good job of maintaining it.

Ours is nice clean and bright. This, however, is the reason I never go to K-mart. All but one I've ever been to are dirty, poor lighting and dingy looking. Yuck.

I agree with Tiggeroo, as far as the one's here are concerned. Our Wal Marts are pretty good (we have two on the island). Our K-Mart's on the other hand, are horrible! There is only one K-Mart that is fairly decent, and even though it's farther away, we would rather go there. Overall, even where merchandise is concerned, we prefer WalMart, which is even further away.

Someone tell Target to open some stores here in Hawaii!!! I love Target!

The WalMart by us is clean and neat, even during construction. They're turning it in to a Super WalMart.

We have a Super Walmart here and it is pretty clean. There is an regular Walmart on the other side of town, and its really gross....smells like dirty feet all the time..LOL...

We had 2 Kmarts here in town..and the dirty one was part of the recent shutdowns...thank goodness...and we are getting out 2nd Target in town in March of 2004...cant wait for that.

I don't know.

I will hardly Ever partonize a walmart....their corporate philosophy seems to be to destroy the local small family businesses....then once they're "out of the way"....jack up their prices.....I also 'have a problem buying my tooth paste....next to the bags of composted manure.

GP, your theory sounds just like my DH's. He would rather me not shop at Walmart but I do.

Ours is a SuperWalmart and is very clean and nice. Like Tiggeroo, our KMart is nasty & I hardly ever go there.

I have shopped at Walmart a few times, matter o' fact I was at a super walmart the very night before I went into labor with my youngest. Some are better than others but one thing I have noticed about Walmart is the attitude they have. They come across as a Large corporationwho does not believe the rules apply to them. If you know anythign about Florida, we have wetlands. Now wetlands are completely off limits for building unless you pay LARGE fines and then sometimes you still can't do it. Not only does walmart like to weasle into small communities but they want to build on lands that anyone else would be completely denied no questions asked. I'm not a fan of greedy self serving corporate companies.

I'll shut up now, sorry.

OH and yes Wal mart bathrooms are always in need of a serious cleaning!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I used to llloooovvveee Walmart until they built the Supercenter here. I expected to have hours of fun shopping and brousing (yes, my thrills are small) but it is a nightmare - the building smells! It is awful. Not to mention the people that are shopping there...

It has made me a Target shopper.

The thing I don't like about our Walmart are the terrible carts!!! Only one out of every 100 have four wheels that can roll straight!!!

The Wal-Mart closest to our home is totally filthy! From the minute you walk in you see garbage all over the floor, clothes on the floor, nothing in it's proper place and the employees are horrible! They never even say hello or thank you or anything - just plain rude.

The next closest Wal-Mart is clean throughout, but the restrooms are disgusting! I mean, seriously filthy - to the point where you walk in, and end up walking out, no matter how bad you have to go.

I also prefer Target, all the way around.

The 2 Wal-Marts that in our area are usually dirty, but what I really dislike is the attitude of the people that work and shop there. At least in our area, it's scumbag city -- now please, don't think that I am saying everyone that goes into our Wal-Mart is nasty and dirty, because that's not how I meant it, but I guess it is something that you just have to experience for yourself to believe. DH and I now loyally shop in the land of Target.

Our old Walmart used to be dirty and filthy but when they moved to the county I live in and became a SuperWM they have changed dramatically. I LOVE Target though!!!I do most of my shopping at Walmart.

I used to work for Wal-Mart doing overnight stocking (from 10 p.m. till 7 a.m.) and I've seen a really dirty Wal-Mart. The ones around us and the one here in Okeechobee (a prototype store it turns out) are really clean!

I try to avoid Walmart. I prefer to shop at smaller, locally based, locally owned, establishments. I hate how crowded Walmart usually is. it is pure insanity trying to push a cart around there without running someone over.

You are right about the bathrooms. The one I visited was filthy. Yuck.
