Looking for opinions / experiences with the Visa Gift Cards that Walmart carries. I read the back of one and the only thing I saw was a fee is charged starting with the 13th month. Any else I need to be aware of? I'm thinking of getting one for my teenage nephew for Christmas, but want to avoid issues.

Yes, I want to know also. I thought I also read that you have to go in and pay when getting gasoline and have the card registered online. I wanted to get one for my dd but fear hidden fees.

Okay, dreamn_Disney, this is what I found out so far. There is a FAQ on Walmart Gift Card website and it says that there is a fee at the time of purchase ($3.94 for the $50 card and $5.44 for the $100 card). I didn't see anything on the card package about this, but that is what the site says.

I'm going to do a little more searching before I decide if this is what I want to do. I guess I am cheap, but I hate the thougt of paying to buy a gift card. Kind of bugs me a little.

I think that also depends on state law. Here in Louisiana, it's illegal to charge anything other than the origination fee. A card can't lose value, in other words, by companies charging fees on it after so many months.
