Walmart Tickets Question

If my friend buys a one day ticket at walmart or online, do you just show up at the gate with the walmart pass to scan into the park or do you still have to go to the ticket booth to redeem?

You can go directly to the gate.
(But, if the ticket you have is not already a plastic ticket, a CM must come to assist you and issue a plastic RFID ticket before you can enter.)

so if they buy the ticket on disney website and then add it to my disney experience, they will still have to get a card issued at the tapstyles?
