Walmart ipad mini guarantee question-got it but confused

So I go and stand in line for the ipad mini one hour guarantee $299 and get a $100 gift card. YOu get a piece of paper to go check out(out of stock). You are also given a gift card that has the amount you paid on it. You go online and have to register it and pick your pick up location. I was told by girl giving me piece of paper they will email me the gift card. It took about 20 attempts to register it because the site was so jammed. I have not been emailed a gift card. Anyone else do this and how did you get your gift card? THis has been such a pain in the neck, wish I had done target even though gift card was less. Cant imagine it was this complicated.

This is really a pain I'm currently waiting on hold again to talk with someone I waited over 45 mins to talk to someone this morning then after trying to talk with someone to register it..for 35 mins because she was having problems she hung up on me UGGHHHH noooooo.. Walmart really screwed this one up!!!

This has been a total pain for me. My access code from receipt worked, but not the code on my voucher. I called customer service several times and they just hung up on me. I called my local store and they were confused and put me on hold for 15 minutes, so I finally hung up. My husband went in today and they re-issued the voucher and went online at the store so the ipad mini is ordered. BUT she wouldn't give him a gift card (they gave me a plastic gift card when I bought it on Thursday night). She said it would be emailed shortly. We still haven't received it and I will be shocked if it comes at this point. The deal was that you were supposed to pay for your item and they would give you a gift card. I don't know why now after having to mess with this twice, they won't give people the card. The card they issued you me on Thanksgiving has been voided. So I'm wondering how many people who've had their vouchers re-ordered will show up to Walmart this week with their original gift cards and be surprised when there isn't any money on it. If the email doesn't come tonight, I'm going back tomorrow.

Bottom line - 2 hours at Walmart on Thanksgiving, one hour online and on the phone last night to no avail, and another 30 minutes going back to the store and waiting in line to have it re-done (they had several in line for this). And it's still not quite right since I'm missing the gift card.

They won't give you the $100 gift card UNTIL you've purchased the ipad mini (paid the $299-ish). What you got was a guarantee card (which you paid a certain amount of money for) that you have to register online and then bring with you when you collect the ipad mini (unless you paid $299 for the guarantee card?) Even if you paid $299 for the guarantee card, they still wouldn't give you the $100 gift card until you pick up the ipad mini and give them the guarantee card.

P.S. I think this is to prevent people from not buying the ipad mini after all, having the guarantee card converted into a regular gift card, and still getting a $100 gift card

I agree. They also told me that I had to bring the Card AND the Receipt when I pick it up.

I was told I would get the gift card when I went in to pick up the iPad.

I was just reading over the FAQ section and found this

29. I ordered the iPad with the gift card. When will I get my gift card?

After you place your iPad order, you will receive several emails. Emails coming from "Walmart.com" (help@walmart.com) will show status on the order processing for your iPad. Email coming from eshoppingcard@walmart.com will contain your electronic gift card and will be sent shortly after your iPad has shipped. Please be sure to check your spam folders to make sure you don't miss these emails!

I tried logging into the site Thankgiving night and it was bogged down so I stopped. I'm going to try it now since today is the last day. I'm hoping to use my $100 gc to buy disney gc for my cruise in January.

On Thanksgiving they gave me the plastic gift card when I purchased my ipad (via voucher).. In fact, some people were turning around and using theirs for items at the 8:00 sale. It's strange to me that I was given a gc when I paid, but when my voucher didn't work and they had to re-issue one, my gc was depleted and she said it would be emailed later that day. Still no email.

Also you did have to pay for the voucher, so they do have the full amount from me.

The manager at my store confirmed the $100 promo gift card it would be emailed to me once shipped, it also stated this on the site when I registered it. The only people in my store that walked out with the $100 gift cards are the ones that had the mini physically in hand and walked out with it that night.

The same thing happened to us.

This is what was supposed to happen:
1. Associate scans the bar code (the top number) on the guarantee card.
2. The computer prompts associate to scan gift card.
3. Associate scans the the bottom number on the guarantee card which loads the money you are about to pay onto the guarantee card.
4. You pay for the transaction.

...then, you take your guarantee card to your computer, register it, and use the scratch off number on the guarantee card to pay for it. Your gift card will be emailed to you when your iPad is shipped.

This is what happened to you and me (and the 4 people I was with):
1. Associate scans the bar code (the top number) on the guarantee card.
2. The computer prompts associate to scan gift card.
3. The associate scans completely separate gift card (probably thinking they are giving you your $100 gift card but actually loading the money you are about to pay onto the gift card).
4. You pay for the transaction.

We were lucky enough to discover in-store that there was a problem and got it fixed before we left. DH checked out first, and passed his gift card on to me to use his $100 on my purchase. The gift card paid for my entire purchase, so that is how we figured out something wasn't right. We went over to customer service and they got it all straightened out.

Aside from the access code, the guarantee card is essentially a giant gift card. I suspect that if we had kept the original gift card, we would have been able to enter that gift card number rather than the scratch off number on the guarantee card and that would have worked.


When I registered my guarantee card, it clearly stated that my gift card would be emailed when the iPad shipped.
