Walmart 1hr guarantee for Beats substitution vent

I can certainly understand your frustration- I would not be happy if I had plans for something kids specifically asked for and it got "substituted". It would definitely stress me out.

BUT- Before cancelling or buying anything else, I would check and see if the mixrs are something they would want. It sounds like a significant upgrade. They may have asked for the entry level, because they knew that was the best as kids they were going to get. Depending on their age, I think there is a good chance they might be thrilled with the higher level headphones and the envy of their friends! The mixrs are still called "Beats"- just "Beats Mixrs" instead of "Beats Solo" and I think they look very similar, just a significantly better quality. You might be getting a substitute that will make you look like a rock star in their eyes.


I've heard that Wal-mart is also substituting the 32 inch Funai TV that was on its 1 hour guarantee with a Samsung for some customers. That is a big upgrade. I would be thrilled with that one. Almost makes me wish I would have gone and gotten in line for that TV and been at the tail end of the guarantees- except I think they are both 720p instead of 1080p- so neither would be acceptable to DH.

I told my 17yo son about this and he said the kids should be ecstatic about getting the upgraded headphones. He said that they are way better!

I agree with the poster(s) who said the kids are probably trying to be fiscally responsible in asking for the Solo's.

I am sure they will FLIP over the higher quality headphones - and you will be the super cool gift giver!!

I totally, completely, 100% agree. I had an opportunity to drive one and I was in love (and this coming from a lady that thinks cars are just something to get you where you're going)

My first email I was getting an Emerson set, then Walmart ran out of them, so now i am getting a sprhere set? I wish it was a Samsung!!

I have never heard of the brand I am getting now, but I hadn't heard of Funei either.

The TV's are replacing my kids TUBE Television, and they will be thrilled with any FLAT screen!

I just hope they actually make it to my WALMART store before Christmas. Right now, the expected date is December 22!

You might consider complaining. I was just at walmart picking up a couple of online orders and the guy and lady ahead of me were having the same tv issues. The guy got the last Emerson. The lady said she didn't think it was right for them to substitute some strange brand she'd never heard of (she was picking up three tvs). They ended up giving her a Vizio, a Vizio smart tv, and an LG. They didn't argue with her or anything, just said hang on while we see what else we have.

ETA: I think the sets they were subbing are Sceptre or Scepter, something like that. They had a bunch sitting behind the counter.

I ordered two and have gotten two substitutions emails...the first one said I would be getting two Emersons.... the next email was that I was getting two Samsungs.... I am thrilled! Definitely a step up from a brand name I can't pronounce...though for $100 I was going to be happy no matter what.

We ended up getting a 32" RCA valued on Amazon at $225.00. We are thrilled. We also got the initial Emerson email and then finally they shipped the RCA. Ours was delivered to the store on Monday and we plan to pick it up today.

I ordered two TVs (I couldn't figure out how to do them together as one order, so they're separate). I've been watching and it says one of them shipped and will be here for pickup 12/19. It's that strange S brand someone mentioned above.

The second still says processing & is listed as Emerson. I'm not sure how I feel about the S brand. I am curious how they consider it an "upgrade" when no one has ever heard of them?

I was at Sam's club yesterday and they had a ton of the Solo's for $119. I bought a pair and then returned the Target ones I'd paid $139 for. My Sam's had purple, pink, and lime green in stock. You might check there.

OP here, thank you for all of your thoughts. I understand that Walmart offered an upgraded product and I should be thrilled, but when someone asks for a specific gift, I try to get exactly what they ask for, if possible. I don't know if my niece and nephew asked for the Solos since the price is lower than the other models or because that the was model that really wanted. I was in no way "outraged" as some have put words in my mouth...just annoyed since I couldn't get the product I had originally purchased.

At this time I am planning on giving them the Mixr ones (which by the way are still listed as processing through the Walmart website---hopefully I get them after all) and if they would prefer the Solos then I will exchange them.

Thanks to those who have listed stores where the price seems to be reduced, but they each asked for a black pair, and the black ones don't seem to be offered at the lower prices anywhere.

Hopefully they are as happy as most of us would be with the substitution. Either way, you are an awesome aunt for tracking down such great gifts for them! My aunt always gave me things like underwear and socks for Christmas.

Walmart seems to be really messing up this year. I give them credit for making an attempt at substituting what they feel are upgraded products, but they really should have ensured that they could deliver as much product as they sold before they sold it. It's somewhat unrelated, but when I went in to pick up my two site to store orders, both of the orders were messed up and the cashier had to have someone run out into the store to get replacement products to fill my orders.

Thanks for the heads up. I never got an email about the Solo Beats I had on order so I checked my account. Yup, they are sending Mixrs in orange and blue. Ugh! I had already decided to sent the Solo's back if they were red so now I will definitely return them but I don't want a gift card. My delivery date is listed as 12/26 thru 1/03. Not by Xmas.

I looked again and both of my Beats Solos have been subbed. One with the Beats Mixr DJ On Ear headphones (249.99)the other with the Beats Mixr On Ear headphones.(199.99).
I know my kids will be thrilled and I realize I am coming out waaaaaay ahead but this is frustrating nonetheless.
Of course, at this point I'm just hoping for a Christmas miracle and that they are actually here on time.

Another annoyed person here. My son specifically wanted the Solo headphones. I was shopping Black Friday to help my niece get two nabi tablets for her twins and thought I would save a few bucks and get the Solos, even though I knew it would be a hassle registering and following up at the store for pick up. I travel quite a bit for work so I go for convenience. I gave my son a choice of which headphones he wanted, including the mixers and he wanted the Solos. I've been getting emails continually delaying arrival and today's email implied the headphones will not make it in time for Christmas and I will receive a $10 e gift for the inconvenience. I decided to order them off of Amazon with guaranteed shipping by Tuesday (I order three times a week from Amazon and shipping is early or on time). I didn't realize I can't get my money back and now have a Walmart gift card that I don't want. Live and learn for me. Walmart's concept was great but they definitely over promised to their customers. Hopefully they figure out a better system next year but I won't chance it for my shopping.

Bestbuy.com has the white, red ,and black Dr. Beats solo headphones for $99 if your store has them available for in-store pick up. I think you could price match that price at Target for anybody still looking.
