Have you ever installed one?

My DD wants a mural on one of her walls. I've ordered it for my dad to put up. He knows how to wallpaper but he is very nervous about doing this mural as it seems like it's REALLY easy to screw up.

If you've done one, did you find it difficult? More difficult than putting up vinyl wallpaper?

This thing requires paste, trimming, and overlapping pieces because of shrinkage.

Just thinking that maybe we should just return it.

I put one up in a bathroom once and other than having to work around the toilet, it wasn't any more difficult then hanging wallpaper. Having to paste the mural is in someways easier then the prepasted wallpapers if you have place that is set up for doing this.

DSIL and I hung four section wallpaper mural in DD's room and with prep work it wasn't hard. I made sure I had it centered on the wall marked it out with a level and then snapped chalk lines. After that we just took one section at a time and worked it slowly to get it as smooth as possible. I think it took us maybe 2 hours total, not hard at all.

It has been several years and it still looks great and DD still loves it. Good luck!

Years ago we did one for DS. It wasn't a full-piece mural, it was more of a cut-out type KWIM? It was a jungle with trees, vines, monkeys & such - but it was all cutout instead of whole sheets. We did all 4 walls, floor to ceiling. We had to paste & overlap edges. It wasn't too bad. He loved it & kept it for many years.

It took me DAYS to get it off the wall when we moved. DAYS upon DAYS :headache:

And if anyone has any good pics, I'd love to see them.
