We just got back and loved the movie. I was curious though, how the storyline about the sedentary people affected your kids at all. My daughter asked (loudly, during the movie) why everyone was chubby and why can't they walk? I (obviously) understood the message, but it was lost on them. I tried to explain it in the car- about being active and "living" your life instead of watching it go by on a computer screen,etc.... but all they seemed to get out of it was that they should have been walking instead of riding around on those recliner chairs. Any thoughts?

well, my kids really have not expressed any interest in even seeing the movie so I figured we woudl wait till video. Anywho I am really surprised that that was so prominent in the story line. I understand the point but for crying out loud it is a kids movie.

I thought that it was a great storyline and very smart. The movie was also funny and very, very sweet. My DS9 and DD8 both LOVED it and we had a great talk in the car on the way home about all of the important messages and lessons in the movie. So, they had a great many laughs as well as some good thoughts...couldn't have been better by me:thumbsup2

We are seeing the movie on the weekend along with Narnia. I can't wai:laughing: The drive in has both playing(along with 2 others) it's a dusk to dawn move night!

I thought it was very thought provoking for the kids as well. I mean essentially your kids were understanding the truth of the matter, they should be walking instead of sitting in the chairs. If you sit around & don't do anything your whole life you'll be unhealthy. But, it seemed like that was the only way they knew things & then when 2 of their computers were turned off, they started really "living" their lives & seeing the things around them. I don't think it was too much for kids & my dd didn't even mention it. I also loved the way the pilot was educated about earth as well. I just really thought it was a great movie.

The move wasn't all about "fat" people. It was just a part of the movie. I thought the movie was wonderful and my dd4 and dd 13 loved it too. It had so many learning moments in it and didn't come over to pushy. I love the love story and the whole take care of the earth and yourself moral!

I really love them movie. My kids are young. I think the whole overweight thing went way over my dd(5) 's head.

We too went to see it last night. My boys really liked the movie and didn't seem the least bit phased by the "hidden" messages. There was a lot of "global warming" subliminal messages as well. It was a good movie all around...halfway through it I thought this is the "Back to the Future" of our kids' generation! LOL

My kids (5 & 4) loved it! I don't even think they knew there were people in it! The came home talking about Wall E and Eve. Thats all they could talk about.
But it made me put the popcorn down! :lmao:
Isn't it funny though, he movie is all about the earth being destroyed by all this junk...and they give us a cheapo plastic watch with a bunch of ads for a chihuahua movie I don't think ANYONE plans to see. Where do hey think that stuff will end up?

Hey, we thought the Chihahua movie looked really cute - I think my kids will like that a heck of a lot more than they did Wall*E - at least I think I will!

we went yesterday and saw the movie. I loved it! By 6 yr old also liked it too. I love the "love story" I thought it was a very very sweet movie.:thumbsup2

We are going tonight so I hope my children will enjoy it! The twins have been asking to see it since the first comercial they saw:)

We LOVED WALL*E and definitely will NOT be seeing the Chihuahua movie:confused3

I thought the overweight aspect of the movie was subtle, but my kids seemed to understand it. It was a fabulous movie by the way.

It probably depends upon the age of the children and how aware they are of the whole movie versus simply EVE and Wall-E. My kids didn't notice- 8 and 3- or they didn't comment on it. I think the OP's kids really are smart cookies- they realized the people should be up and walking. Of course, that simplifies the message- but they are kids :) Kids tend to simplify things.

I really liked the movie. What I REALLY was amazed by, though, was that although this movie had barely any dialogue- the theater was QUIET. With all of those kids? Amazing!

Does the movie make up for not having much dialogue? Sometimes I just can't stand when movies have hardly any dialogue, like in Children of Men and Marie Antionette. I'm sure Wall E is different, since it's made for kids, but I can't stand how so many new movies have had such little dialogue that you barely understand the plot.
