I am a new DVC member and have only stayed at OKW. It is my understanding that you can walk to EPCOT and MGM from BWV and BCV.

Which resort is a closer walk to EPCOT and what would be the best section to request if this is a priority.

Also, which resort is closer to MGM and what would be the best section to request if this is a priority.

Thanks for any information you can provide.

You can walk to the International Gateway at Epcot from either BWV or BCV.

BCV is closest to Epcot, and if you want to be as close as possible, request close to the elevators.

BWV is closest to MGM. And the rooms furthest from the lobby would be closest, as you can exit out the back door of the resort.

Yes, I've stayed at both and consider whether you really prefer one park to the other. BCV is closer to Epcot by about 5 minutes, but BWV is closer to MGM by about 10 minutes. BWV's about 1/2 way between the 2 parks, but BCV is a long walk from MGM.

On my first visit to BVC (on rented points as a non-member), my children and I started to walk towards Epcot, but decided to take the boat instead, since we were coming up on the boat dock.

Well, it turns out the boat dock was the EPCOT boat dock -- we were already there. So it's an easy walk.

I ended buying at BWV, which for me is a better choice. But I do envy the BCV location related to EPCOT, not to mention SAB.

Well then, I think a WELCOME HOME is in order! :thumbsup2

Frankly, anywhere in BCV would be a short walk to EPCOT, relatively speaking. If you want to be closer to MGM at BWV, you would want a PV Water/Garden and maybe request a room close to the quiet pool. A SV room far from the elevators would also give you the same "head start" to MGM.

IMHO, the walk from the EPCOT bus stops to the EPCOT turnstiles, is about the same as the walk to the International Gateway from BCV - about 5 minutes at an average speed.

Best wishes -

Ditto!

BWV is conveniently located within a short stroll of either. Besides, we enjoy the diversions of walking. We've seen many types of birds, etc. along the walk.

Since BCV is behind the Beach Club, I haven't noticed that it is a shorter walk to Epcot. Last time we stayed at BCV, we found the walk to MGM a bit much. But, stopping half-way at the BWV bakery or the ice-cream shop made up for it. :mickeybar

Ummm, neither is as far as the walk from your room to the nearest elevator :teeth: (Sorry, but I had to say it!)

Not to be mean, but Epcot covers 300 acres, are you really worried about 100 yards?

I agree.

We own at both BCV and BWV and my kids love the variety of both walking to Epcot from BCV and/or riding the boats to and from MGM and either BCV and/or BWV. I don't think it really matters. We stay at BCV to be near SAB (Storm along Bay) pool and BWV to be on top of the restaurants on the Boardwalk. Either way you are very, very close to Epcot and MGM. It's so much easier than driving.

We actually prefer walking thru Epcot from BCV to catch the monorail to the Magic Kingdom than driving or taking the bus. It's a long walk on a hot day, but there is so much to see.......it just doesn't matter.

I hadn't thought of it that way, but you're right. Might even be a shorter trip from BCV to the gateway...and it has more pleasant scenery. :)

The walk to Epcot is about 5 minutes. There is a small gate that is sort of on the side of the BCV that takes you in a back way. Ifg you are walkingf from Epcot to the BC area, just after the wooded area along the walkway ends, you'll see the gate. It leads you to a sidewalk that goes along the patios of the people who have those 1st floor rooms there, to the covered walkway that leads to the front door of the BCV.

BCV is not a huge walk to Epcot, but it is farther, by probably 5-10 minutes, depending on where in the resort your room is located.

Thanks Disney Doll......I forgot to mention that gateway. If you request a ground floor room off the then you can literally walk out the end of the building, turn right (you're walking on a path next to the service roadway) and voila you're at Epcot. The noise at that end of the building was not an issue for us. The convenience of being able to walk out the back and along the path to Epcot and be at the Gateway in less than 5 mins was heaven.

From either BC or BW, where do you wind up at MGM?
The sidewalk runs along the canal on the BW side of the canal and puts you at the front entrance of MGM just past where the buses load.
