SO.... I've stayed at Holiday inn springs a few times, always with a group- never had a problem walking back to room at night...wondering about safety concerns when walking alone tho.... also considering Wyndham springs, it's a shorter walk and I think that side of street is more well lit.... opinions please?

ALso came here to ask, is there a crosswalk between Wyndham and Holiday Inn? Google maps is showing one but I don't recall seeing that path to springs before

If you mean the Wyndham-Lake Buena Vista then, yes, there is an elevated cross over at the intersection of Buena Vista drive & Hotel Plaza Blvd.

We stay sometimes at the Drury and its walkable and very well-lit to DS and yes there is a skywalk to go across the road

Google maps shows the pedestrian bridge when you use satellite mode.Screenshot_20250430_161056_Maps.jpg

ok thanks- that's what I had thought from past trips-the bridge is much safer

I heard they serve hot dogs during Happy Hour maybe …
So I keep thinking I need to visit to check it out.
I meant to go when they re-opened the new construction update a few years ago.
I have stayed at Drury in St.Louis Union Train Station and also huge interchange location in Oklahoma City area
But I think it is family owned in St.Louis , Mo. where I grew up…
Let me know if you like the location and lobby, etc, amenities .
Still plan to visit maybe for holidays one night !

Before that pedestrian bridge was built … police with their Vans at the intersection with lights blinking to control the crazy cars and pedestrians walking across street. I stayed many times and walked back to Hilton all the time at night. It was pretty chaotic but never heard of personal safety issues.
There are areas in Kissimmee I don’t even want to drive thru at night , in case I had a flat tire or something .

Cosigning the comment above; I also frequently stay at the Hilton across the street, solo traveler for work. I walk to and from DS at night most stays and generally feel very safe. The usual applies - be alert and thoughtful - but the bridges are great and the walks are really short if you're at that end of Hotel Plaza Blvd.

Yeah, I really like that Hilton right next to bridge.... but the Holiday inn is in my budget so that last piece of walking I guess is what I'm thinking about....altho I'm guessing there will be others walking too in evenings....

I know the spot you mean, I've also stayed at HI. It is darker on that stretch past the Hilton's water feature, agreed. The area as a whole is pretty busy - it's really about your own comfort with it. Wish you well, I totally get safety concerns as a solo traveler!

I stay at the Holiday Inn every year for one night prior to checking into a Disney Hotel. I walk that stretch frequently as a solo traveler and have never felt unsafe. I am very vigilant and observant of my surroundings though. There usually are a few people walking back area hotels after dinner so I don’t think I was ever truly alone.

If you are talking about the Drury--it's great. "Happy Hour" is 3 free alcoholic beverages per adult, hot dogs, nachos, salad, and then a rotating menu of pasta/chicken, stir fry/egg rolls, pulled pork sliders/beans, soft taco night, etc. Their breakfast is also amazing. All the Drury Inns/Plazas are owned by that family in St Louis I believe.

Don't go it alone bud. No matter where you are, be it in Disney or back at home, safety risks are higher in the dark. I would try to get back before sunset if you are visiting alone.
