Sorry, me again! ;)

We are staying at the Tropicana. If we wanted to walk to DTD, from our hotel, without admission to the parks, is that feasible? Is it quite a distance to walk? What direction do we go?

We should get to our hotel mid-afternoon. No park passes for that day. I am wondering if it's realistic to walk to DTD for dinner that evening. Keep in mind we have a 2yo and a 4yo, both in strollers though. Then again, we might be too tired from the flight to walk anywhere!

Thanks! :goodvibes

I'm not sure on distance, but DTD is absolutely available without park admission and is right on the other side of the parks so the walk will be basically the same as the walk to the park.

It is quite walkable, about the same distance as to the parks. You just walk down Harbor to the crosswalk for Disneyland, and follow the path to the parks. Instead of going into the parks, keep walking across the plaza and out the other side to DTD.

You will need to go through the security check, both ways, but they do not check tickets. The only issue might be that you will be walking within 100 yards of the gates to Disneyland, and you will have to explain to your children why you can't go in.

Oh, cool, I didn't realize you could walk through the plaza to get there. I thought I had to walk all the way around one of the parks to the other side. Thank you!!

Capt Silly, you're right, my DD would be like  "Why can't we see Mickey right now??" Oh dear, might have to reevaluate that! ;)

We love Downtown Disney! The live music is fantastic, lots of places for yummy treats, the humongous World of Disney store, and don't forget about the AMC movie theatre. Despicable Me and Toy Story 3 are showing now! I definitely say "go for it"! If anything, it will get you more excited for the parks the next day. :cool1:

I'm a big planner and I like to be prepared, so I would say to the kids, "Look! That's where we'll line up tomorrow morning! Those are the gates we'll walk through! There's the train we'll ride! Now let's go get an ice cream cone at Haagen Daz in Downtown Disney!"

We love visiting Downtown Disney for the same reasons. Sometimes we go down there just to shop and eat, and not go into the actual parks. Don't forget that Disney bakery/candy story either (they often sell the same treats you can get in the parks).

Just don't let them see the Build a Bear store, your wallet will cry in agony if you do.

I agree! And DTD is great fun, there is the big World of Disney store, the Lego store, and Build a Bear if you want to buy some souviners.
