Is the distance around deck 4 1/4 mile? what about deck 10? read on a trip report that it's also 1/4mile. Do they only let us walk partway around deck 4?

It must a 1/4 mile on deck 4, since it takes four times around to make a mile. You are able to talk or jog all the way around, although you must avoid the people standing around chatting, smokers, shuffleboard players, etc! It's a very interesting walk, as you pass through an interior area with lots of equipment.

We discuss this every couple of months. Although they say that 4 laps on Deck 4 is 1 mile, I think that 4 laps is longer than a mile. Think about it. The ship is 964 feet long and 105 feet wide (approximately, I don't have the exact dimensions in front of me). I'm guessing that the walking path is 850 feet long and let's say that it's 90 feet wide (assuming that you're walking 5-10 feet away from the railing. 2 x 850 feet + 2 x 90 feet = 1880 feet. Subtract a number of feet from that to account for the rounded nature of the track at both ends, and we could say that the track is about 1700 feet. Multiply that by 4 laps, and you get 6800 feet. That's a little over 1 1/4 miles.

Deck 4 is nice for a leisurely stroll. If you want to do some serious mileage, there are treadmills in the spa or you can walk deck 10 which is pretty quiet in the early morning.
