Obviously there are a lot of individual factors here (age, fitness, weather, height), but according to wikipedia (among other sources), typical average walking pace is about 5 km/h. The castaway route is very flat, so terrain should not be an issue. Heat could be a factor, depending on the day.
Walking a 15 minute mile is a nice brisk pace. That puts you at 45 minutes. You need to take into account the heat and your overall health, but anywhere from around 45 minutes to an hour. All depends. it's all good
Two years ago I mostly walked the whole 5k. I don't remember my time. I remember I was last. I also remember the encouragement from other participants and getting the "medal" from the cast members. Totally worth it.
it was super hot when we did it in july. i opted out of the 2nd loop. went to the finish line at the end...and they were giving out the medals/larnyard. i told the lady that was passing them out that i technically didn't finish the 5k, so i won't get the medal...but she insisted that i get it.
The easiest way to find out is to go walk 5K somewhere. How long it takes me to walk a 5K and how long it takes you to walk a 5K could be fairly different. If you are not comfortable with walking 5K to see how you do, then you shouldn't be signing up for a structured 5K.
I would say about an hour. Depending on the time of year the heat may be brutal. I've never been one to walk a 15 minute mile, more like 17-20 minute miles. It really depends on how fast you can walk. Take a walk and time yourself with an app like map my walk, or any other distance measuring app (many newer phones come with them preloaded). It really can vary from one person to the next.
