:surfweb: I am hoping someone can suggest some GREAT walking shoes they have purchased and used in the past for WDW. This year my mom has some problems with a spur in her foot and she is not a fan of gym shoes but if I can find a pair she might like it would be a plus to our vacation. :thanks:

Of course you are going to get a lot of responses for crocs, which are one ugly shoe but they are comfortable! (www.nofeargear.com) The other one I read about on this thread was tevas, which kind of look like tennis but are sandals. I got the dozer style. I love them because they comfortable and light weight.

Just a few suggestions.

Another vote for Crocs...
I finally gave in and bought some to try the night before our last trip. They were so comfortable I didn't even think about my feet! I ended up wearing them several days in a row (usually I rotate a different pair everyother day).

Crocs!!!! without a second thought...but if you can get the knock offs at Payless, even better!

Try Saucony shoes. I do a lot of walking and having been using them for years. Very comfortable and lots of support. They make walking shoes, running shoes, cross-trainers. Have her try on a pair.

I am a nurse and have bought 3 pairs of the same New Balance running shoes. Those and Adidas don't leave my feeting pulsating after a long night's work. (I haven't liked the styles of Adidas shoes lately, though.)

Over the last 5 or 6 years I have been wearing New Balance walking shoes on a daily basis, at home, at work, and at WDW. I use the Model 574s with velcro closures.

These are the most comfy shoes I've ever owned. They break in easily in only a few days, and have plenty of arch support and heel cushion.

They come in both white and black, and apparently beige (though I've never seen the beige), and they come in both velcro and laced versions. I normally pay about $60 for them, but they are on sale on the New Balance web site right now for $35.99

Keen Newports. Not cheap. But worth every penny. Kinda in-between a sandal and sneaker. Found out about them on these boards and bought them for my last trip...they were WONDERFUL! :thumbsup2

Another vote for NB. Highly recommended by my foot doc. I wore them the last time we were in Disney and my knees, back and foot never bothered me. :thumbsup2

If you have wider than "normal" feet, New Balance is about the only real game in town and the retail stores I can access in CC Philadelphia that carry NB seem to stock the 12EEEE I need. I swore by new balance and Thorlo socks....until I tried the crocs. I think the NB are still more comfortable for long days of walking, but the crocs are more comfortable for daily living even taking into account how tight they are at the instep.

Happy Hunting,
Joe

Just sharing what I found to be a great deal...

I have the Airwalks-I call them Frocs (Fake Crocs) I wear them all the time and I love them. I told myself if I was able to bear the shame and wear them out of the house (which I do daily now) I would buy the real ones as a treat to myself. Then yesterday my girlfriend (a fellow DISER!) let me try on hers and the were great the only difference is that the bottom of the sole on the real Croc seems to be a bit more supportive. I wanted the Sage all along but I loved her Navy Blue so I bought both. Woo Hoo me! :cool1:

Another vote for the Keen Newports. I learned about them here also. Got them for Christmas from Zappos.com Very sporty looking. I've been walking on the treadmill with them as it is not warm enough here for sandals yet. Maybe soon!

I just got back from WDW and the best shoe for me was my aasic gels. I took my crocs and while I didn't hate them I just didn't feel good in them.

Another vote for New Balance...I like the 843 walking shoe. Fairly light with alot of support.

I've had a pair of New Balance for at least a year now and they are still great. I don't use them daily but almost. If they're still good in the fall then they are going with me to WDW. I also just bought a pair of FilaTiva (of the Fila brand I assume?). These support my long narrow foot extremely well. I may buy another pair for my fall trip but if these are both in good condition that's what I'll use. I'm a firm believer in rotating good foot wear during a day at the parks. With a pair of clean socks it is such an instant pick-me-up! Happy feet = happy vacation!! :yay:
