Need redcommendations on good walking sandals. I usually use my sneakers, but I'd like to try sandals for a day or two on this trip :) Does anybody have good/bad experiences with walking sandals at DW with flat feet? I just get so tired of wearing only sneakers while down there.

THANKS! ::MinnieMo

I use to bring a pair of good quality, well broken in sandals in my backpack to put on later in the day when my feet were to hot in sneakers. It was nice to have a change of footwear midway through the day. I always used Reef or Teva brand sandals with straps that held them to your foot. Don't even think about flip flops.I could not see wearing sandals all day though, they are just not made for the heavy mileage traveled on a typical park visit. With that said, try to pay attention to the footwear some people try to walk around in. It makes your feet hurt just watching them.

I really like Clarks shoes. [I pretty much live in three pairs of Clarks clogs year-round.] They also make nice leather sandals that are very comfortable, and they look nice!

FYI, after getting a terrible blister on the bottom of my toe in October at WDW from my regular, "broken in" workout shoes, I switched to flip flops and loved them. (They were very nice Nike neoprene flips - amazingly comfortable!)

Lots of people like Tevas - have never tried them myself, but lots of people seem to like them.

Another vote for Tevas here. I was skeptical and I have flat feet, too, but they were great. I can't remember what style they are, but they were the higher end ones. So perfect for Kali River Rapids. Just remember to sunscreen the tops of your feet!

Nike Ceso sandles have become my new favorite park shoes. Bought them to wear to the pool and ended up wearing them for an 8 day trip last summer. Never once put on my sneakers.

Liked them so much, that I bought them for my 3dds and bought myself two more pairs in different colors! Turned quite a few ladies here in the office onto them as well.

I just bought my first pair of crocs last week from Ebay. They arrived on Friday and I took them with me to NJ/NY for the weekend. I never wore anything else. We walked around NYC for several hours on Saturday morning and my feet still felt great. I love these shoes!! So glad I made the purchase.

I, however, have the Aspens. You don't want these if you want sandals. Aspen is the closed version. There are no holes in them and they look more like traditional clogs when the strap is up. But they are so very comfortable! I may need to consider a pair of Nile's for the summer.

Clarks are good, as are Tevas. My wife finds that Keens are the best:

They are especially comfortable and safe.

Ditto the Keens. I have a pair that I'll be taking in February. DS (age 8) has a pair, and they were the only sandals allowed at Y camp last summer, because his toes were covered up. They were a tad spendy for an 8 year old's shoes, but he literally wore them EVERY SINGLE DAY all summer.

Thanks for all the advise. I accidentally posted twice so I got many responses :) I will let everybody know how I made out with these shoes when I come back. Disney is BRUTAL on anybody but especially tough on people with totally flat feet like myself :) I am really hoping for a miracle here - I am tired of waiting on benches while DH and the kids go off without me because my feet are killing me and they need a rest. I ended up buying the Black Crocs Nile right from the Crocs website and got the Merrel Reactor sandals in black/gray.

THANKS!!!

I am a Born lover. To me, there is no better shoe. Two days ago I bought a pair of Crocs and like them as well. I swore I would never ever ever buy a pair of Crocs because I think they are so ugly. Sorry! But I actually love the shoes now! Go fiqure. I will be wearing my Crocs on vaction.

i actually wear reef flip flop sandals and LOVE them. My feet didn't hurt and weren't hot. i would not recommend flip flops if you are a commando style disney goer, but if you are more of a stroller then don't be afraid of the flip flops :)

another vote for Crocs.. I wear them all the time when a lot of walking is expected.

I have about 11 pairs! 2 enclosed pairs and lots of different coloured funky ones with holes in! I know they are ugly.. but they are so ugly they are beautiful! And theyve changed my life!!! My feet no longer EVER hurt (unless Im not wearing my Crocs!)

I have to throw in a vote for Mephistos. Their slogan is 'like walking on trampolines' and they are amazingly comfortable. I wear them my entire trip...

I have Keen Boulders and I love them so much! DH actually said they looked real comfortable. (they are!)

I generally wear sneakers when I'm in the park. During a trip in June 2004, I wore sandals with open backs to DD. To make a long story short, I was started running to catch a photo op, tripped and fell-- and my camera went flying. Luckily my camera survived but I ended up with a torn ligament in my foot! (The only good thing that came out of this was that I was pushed in a wheelchair for the rest of the trip, and CMs brought us to the front of the lines!) So if you're anything like me-a little crazy in WDW- my advice is to stick with sneakers! I know I'll never wear sandals again!!!! :-)

Tevas! My whole family wears them. They are comfortable, and they are OK when they get wet on rides. No blisters.

Another vote for Crocs. Both DH and I swear by them.At the parks I wear them with an ankle high sweat sock for a little extra cushion and my feet did not hurt at all...first trip I can say that about.

Another vote for Clarks here. I wear them every day at work AND when I go to Disney. I've only worn their mules/clogs (closed-toe shoes required where I work) but I will be buying their sandals when the weather gets warmer.

This kind of incident is VERY unlikely if you are wearing a sports sandal with a substantial heel wrap. I don't wear any backless sandal to a theme park b/c they can fly off on suspended rides, but also because I can safely run in a proper sports sandal, in a way I cannot in a casual sandal.

Personally, I like Merrells and Nikes. DH is a big Keens fan. For DS, I often find Kamiks, Merrells, or Nikes marked way down at Marshall's in the springtime.
