Probably just my imagination getting the best of me, but with the news stories lately bringing up the anniversary of the alligator tragedy from 2 years ago it has me a little anxious. My specific question relates to the walking path from DHS to Epcot area resorts. We have walked that path a few times at night never even thinking about the wildlife. We don't have gators where I'm from so I apologize if this is a silly question - but if there are gators in Crescent Lake (which based on other threads i've read, i should assume there are) can they crawl out of the water there onto the concrete path? Or am i worried for nothing as long as we stay on the path and don't go near the water. We love staying at YC/BC for the convenience of walking to Epcot and DHS - but it won't be convenient if I'm too scared to walk on the paths!!

If you see a body of water that is not a pool in Florida, assume there is at least 1 gator in it. The best way to avoid a gator is to not go near the water, especially at dusk when they like to feed. Gators are not likely to hop out and walk around on the path, as that is not how they hunt. And not where there typical prey is.

I have never felt afraid to walk along that path. I have sometimes wondered about the Epcot parking lot, which has little culverts with water running through it.

I haven't seen any news stories bringing up that sad anniversary. I'm curious if you live near where the family is from.

No i don't live near where the family was from...saw a story recently about a charity set up etc...which got me thinking...and unfortunately googling.

The path has more than enough space between it and the water to keep guests safe. They will not get out of the water to hunt for people. As long as people don't go down in to the water everyone will be fine

I'm mean think of it this way, after that incident do you really think they would have left the path open if it was a danger to guests? Not to mention there are no reports on encounters.

You are working things up needlessly

Yah, calm down my friend. We did see a weasel type create at POR once. Ran away from us Pronto but the wife was frazzled she didn't get a picture.

We walk the DHS stretch each year and I am more likely to get beat for making her walk than taking the boat.

Any gators would wait till she's done with me then drag me off. Easier.
