Walking my Reservation

I know this has been talked about numerous times, and I thought I had it down.....but....I have a reservation from Dec 22 to Dec 28. I wanted to walk it forward 2 days, but when I called to do the first day (I.E. drop the 22nd and add the 29th) there was no availability. I may be completely mistaken here, but I thought the idea of walking a reservation, was that it avoided the availability factor. I.E. if I want my reservation these days and they are not available, I make it prior and walk it forward.....am I missing something (of course I am duh....)....

If you just tried to do this in the last couple of days then Ya you missed the boat. The whole point of walking a reservation is to do it at the 11month mark. And then the next couple days after. If you try to do it under the 7 month mark, as in today, then every one else has had a shot at those other days.

Rock beats scissors. Home resort beats walking. The 29th could have been sold out long, long ago.

You didnt really understand what Walking meant. So if you book 11 months from today.. June 27th 2016. But you really wanted to arrive July 1st. You started booking June 27th and booked 7 days til July 4th. No one can book ahead of you because 11 months is the earliest you can book. So 11 months from July 1st 2016 you call, drop June 27th to 30th and add July 4th to 8th. So you now have your desired vacation of July 1st to 8th.

What you did was find a opening on for a reservation that June 27th and walked it up so you didnt have to fight with others the morning of for the busy July 4th week

If you walk any other time you arent saving anything Other people could book those dates behind yours if its any time inside 11 months.

Yea it's probably too late to get those days in a villa on points. Why don't you see if you can add two days onto the end by making a reservation in one of the hotel rooms on the hotel side? And you can still waitlist the villa days to see if those come up.

Walking only really is a guarantee during the 11 month window actually AT the exact day 11 months out.

Geeze....I knew that....what a dumb dumb I am.....thanks for the replies....I guess I am stuck with those dates....not that its a bad thing!!
