Walking from Paradise Pier with new rules and security

DLH guests have the monorail if desired adjacent to the hotel. PPH guests have nothing now but a 15 minute walk each way.

Why can't PPH guests ride the monorail? It is open to all hotel guests at opening.

Looking at your map, I am curious why you go out the back door, turn left, go around the parking area? (See Nonsuch's map above for the regular way.) Taking that loop out reduces the number to .6668.

No, the Green route on Nonsuch's map starts at the front Lobby (same as the red route) but the green route goes out the back of the Hotel to the Parking Structure then north on the marked sidewalks, the way Disney tells you to go and the exact same route as my new way map.. If you want to look at the alternative.... Go to the street first from the Lobby to the traffic light that services the GCH and DLH areas and since there is no sidewalk on the south side of the long driveway, need to cross the street to the north west corner of the light before heading down the sidewalk.That does save a few steps, as it comes up at .72 of a mile or 3800 feet. Looks like NonSuch made a typo with the green number, which should be 3874 feet, mistaking a 8 for a 3.

OK, I never saw the signs to go that way when exiting, we exited out the back, turned right, followed the walkway that way.

To clarify Darkbeer, if you zoom in on your map, you can see a sidewalk between the trees along the north/west side of the hotel, follow it to the crosswalk where it says "STOP", and follow from there.

Yes, there are sidewalks out of the front of the PPH to the marked pathway to DTD on the left and the GCH on the right as well as a sidewalk on the east side of Disneyland Drive in front of the GCH if you were headed that direction for some reason.

You will CROSS a street or two...bit it is all sidewalks or pedestrian walkways otherwise

It is just quicker to exit out the back of the PPH to DTD.

If you go out the front door of the PPH, the side walk will direct you around the side of the hotel, where you'd meet up with those going out the back of the hotel.

There are sidewalks as you can see.
However, right there at the corner into the GHC is where they have a security CM posted.

It's a change..... It's means a few more steps to get to the parks.....
I didn't find it a problem when I stayed at PPH the first of Feb.

I planned my start of the day for the extra distance. Went through security, grabbed a snack from the Earl of Sandwich. Stopped in at StarBucks for my coffee and on to the gates.

The fact that security is open so early and there isn't the mad-mash up at the old security tent location makes it so worth it to me.
While it is a change, I feel it is one that is going to be really nice overall in the long run.

Right, crossing the street and walking in front of GCH would be a longer walk than following the path Disney recommends. It defeats the purpose of not talking the few extra steps to the new security set up, which is what that poster asked about in other threads.

Agreed...just your response as phrased to the question above that made is sound like there were no pedestrian sidewalks out of the front of the PPH to the GCH or DTD

I knew why the they were asking, it was because they wanted to find a way through GCH. It's not going to happen.
