Walking from Motel 8 to Toy Story buses

After looking at a map, this looks like a pretty short walk. Is the Toy Story parking lot always open with buses running? This would save us the 10 buck parking everyday if we could just walk over and catch a bus...I realize it wastes time etc in people's eyes, but saving my feet is a big priority to me!

We thought of doing that as well but we decided to just go with the ART. GetAwayToday had such a good deal for us on ART passes (5 days for the price of 3 and kids fee) we just decided to go that route.

It is right across the street but the pedestrian entrance is on Harbor, across from Convention Way, so you'd almost be walking the same distance. I don't believe you can walk in that back entrance, I've only seen buses pull in there but I could be wrong. But the pick up/drop off zone is still the same distance as Convention Way is so it's quite a walk.

I mapped walking times from Super 8 to the pick up zone and from Super 8 to Disneyland esplenade, the pick up zone only saves you 4 minutes walking time but you're going to possibly spend time standing in line so might not save your feet at all.

Guess we will be driving then! I just know I can't walk that whole way 4 days in a row...and ART doesn't seem to save us much money. I would rather pay a little more and have our car somewhat near to keep jackets etc in. Thank you so much for the info!

Just to clarify, parking is $17 a day now.

Oh man I had no idea it went up. THANK YOU for bringing that to my attention. Tells you how long ago it was we parked there. Now I gotta think about what to do!

So if you are NOT parking at the lot, then how much is the fare, and how do they verify that it has been paid, or do they verify?

Debating either using ART or doing the stroll to Toy Story from BWPRI to go to DTD on our first evening on Thursday.

Also, with the addition of DCA, there's no such thing as "close" parking as a place to keep coats, etc. You're looking at a tram ride to get back to your car to your things. There are lockers on Main Street, on Beuna Vista, and in the Esplanade. Much easier to keep your things there! (They are $7 on up, depending on the size.)

i stayed at sheridan park which is on the corner of habor and katella. (so basically kiddey corner with the super 8 on katella)

i walked to the toy story bus a couple of times and i walked to disneyland from my hotel a couple of times.
walking to the parking lot and to the bus pick up area vs walking to the parks was not that much of a time saver nor was it much of a feet saver.

so basically if you can walk to the toy story parking lot bus from super 8 then you can walk to the parks from super 8 and you'll probably find that it takes less time and less foot power to do so.

so if i were you i'd just walk to the parks and save the $17 per day.
if you want to bring jackets then personally i'd tie them around my waist but you could opt for a locker which would cost you less than the price of parking.

We have stayed at the Super 8 before...so I know for me it's way too long of a walk. Especially with a little toddler. The car being at the parking lot to me is a lot easier then having to go back to the hotel to get them. We aren't set on going back during the day on the weekdays because the parks are only open from 10-8. So my thought was if my son will nap in the stroller, my husband could take the tram back to the car to get jackets if we need them. Which would in turn save us from paying for a locker. I'm not that interested in taking ART. That to me is not worth the extra 18 bucks...you have to wait and wait and wait. I know you have to way for the trams with parking, but with ART you have to wait for it to drive around it's route. Anyhow, I am glad I have this information! At least I know now!

are you bringing your own stroller or renting one?
if you brought your own and walked to the toy story bus you'd have to fold it up. idk about the ART bus since i didn't us it although you said you aren't interested in it anyways.

whether you bring your own or rent why not just keep the jackets with you and have them in the stroller when not needed?

We are bringing our own stroller. I don't mind folding it up, it's pretty light weight and pretty easy to carry folded up. We both just decided we would rather drive. My biggest concern is we are all wearing Disney themed jackets and so I'm worried if we leave them in our stroller they will get stolen since people would see them as "souvenirs". Just seems like it makes the most sense for us to drive ourselves.
