Walking from BLT to HDDR?

Hi there,

We are so excited to take our third Disney World trip this May. We're staying at BLT. Can we walk from the BLT to the HDDR? Is there a path? How long might it take? Or is it too far?

No there is no path. It is on the other side of the lake. The best way to go is to take the boat from the Contemporary pier to the Fort Wilderness pier

That's about physically impossible to do. It's a long walk down an inhospitable road (N World Drive), and an equally long walk down W Wilderness Way. Probably about 2 miles. I'd also say that N World Drive has no sidewalks, and neither does W Wilderness Way.

Do yourself a favor and take the boat from BLT to the Fort.

Thanks for the info! We'll take the boat! We like walking but I had imagined some sort of pleasant trail or jogging path. Oh well, we like taking the boats too!

You can boat to the Wilderness Lodge, short trip, and there is a trail, 2 actually (one maybe defunct along the lake) the other is a paved lane to FW....or you can do the return at a walk to WL and then boat back to the BLT.....

Just remember that you will get on the Boat at the Contemporary dock and it goes from 6:55 AM - 11:30 PM.

Also the Boat travels between CR-FW-WL-CR in the morning, after 3pm the route reverses, CR-WL-FW-CR, so getting to WL for dinner will be direct, getting home will have a stop at FW, but is a nice relaxing trip.

But dinner is at FtW, not WL.

When we had a HDDR reservation and were staying at BLT - we walked over to the MK to take the boat from there - more boats back and forth, especially right before showtimes.
