Are any resorts within a reasonable walking distance(say 20 min or less) to the start/finish for the 1/2 marathon? My original plan was for the Contemporary and just hop the monorails to get there. But alas, it is booked. We are currently at the Poly, which is a bit more money than we had hoped to spend. Any suggestions??

You can use Resort Transportation from any hotel or if you have a car, drive and park at Epcot. I drove last year and it worked fine. I got there at 3:30 when the parking first opened and have a great parking spot. I set my alarm clock and enjoyed a nice nap while everyone else was working their way over.

The Epcot Resorts are in the Deluxe category (Boardwalk, Beach Club, Yacht Club) Swan and Dolphin have all the transportation of Disney resort - but they arent Disney - Starwood Resorts (Heavenly Beds - and a spa in the resort)

I've read a lot of good things concerning disney transportation to the start of the marathon - they know they are looking at 16,000 - 18,000 runners + family members!!

We stay at the Boardwalk so we ride the bus in the morning and walk back to the room after the race. I think you are in for a bus ride one way or another. The busses do a good job. I rather walk than ride after finishing the race. Plus need to have a cool down for the marathon the next day:)

For the marathon, I have heard you can walk from Old Key West as the start is closer to the resort.

Hello, kirsangel! You are in excellent position at the Poly! :) We'll be there, as were were this year for the 1/2! The monorails will be running, and will take you to Ticket and Transportation, where you change to the Epcot monorail. We started our day with a ride in the front of the monorail! No one but runners/walkers, and event volunteers/ workers will be up at that hour. Just followed the crowd to the start! HAVE FUN!!
If you are looking to change, any and all Disney resorts will be running buses to the start (and to the Expo Thurs, Fri, Sat.!). Check the sticky at the top of this thread Marathon FAQ's.
If you are vacationing after the event..you will really appreciate your monorail hotel! :) :goodvibes Anne

Thanks for the info. I knew about the buses, but thought a nice walk to/from the start/finish would be good for warm up/cool down. Also, DH and the kids could walk over with the stroller instead of lugging the stroller on a bus.
