We were recently at Kidani, and I had my GPS with me, so went and measured the distance to walk from Kidani to Jambo.

From the Main Entrance at Kidani to the Main Entrance at Jambo, walking along the pathway between the two, the distance measured to be 0.35 mile.

All in all it's a pleasant walk.

That's not bad at all. When you think of all the walking you will be doing in the parks, walking from Kidani to Jambo is a piece of cake.

Thank you for measuring it Caskbill. I'm looking forward to that walk in the evening hours. :wizard:

Thanks for the effort and info! I couldn't imagine that it was going to be a terribly long walk. That seems reasonable to me. Frankly, I don't get all the outrage about it when you look at all the walking people already do in the parks!

Can't wait to walk that 1/3rd of a mile myself in just a week :cool1:

Wow, that's almost as long as the distance from the elevators to the end of the hallway at BWV. I can't imagine anyone wanting to walk that distance after a day at the parks.

By "pleasant walk", do you mean the distance or the "view" (or lack there-of)? We thought the distance was fine, but I was wondering if there was some pathway we missed that would have been prettier than the sidewalk next to the parking lot that we were pointed to. Also, it was in the bright sun, no shade, so it got really hot. I'm kind of hoping we missed a nicer walk-way.

For those who have seen the resort layout now that Kidani is open...is the walkway between the two more or less level or is there an incline?

I'm a little disappointed that there is no jogging/running trail between the two resorts. 1/3 of a mile is just about as pointless as running on the treadmill. I guess I'll still have to drive over to the Boardwalk area or something.

When you leave Kidani from the main lobby, you walk toward the bus stop, but at that point need to go down some steps to get to 'ground level'. (The lobby at Kidani is actually on the 2nd floor, with the ground floor being the parking area.)

Then it's basically flat until you get close to Jambo House where you either take some steps going up, or you can go up a ramp. We went up the ramp when we measured the distance.

We walked the path a few times and we didn't think the walk was that bad at all. Very nice and once the vegetation starts filling in it will be even better.

It can seem that way...

Actually 0.35 miles is 1848 feet. Several years ago when I measured the distance from the furthest room at BWV to the exit at the front lobby, it was something like 820 feet.

The difference is that getting back to the BWV room after a long day in the parks is mandatory. Walking the path from Kidani to Jambo is strictly voluntary.

thanks for the info but

how is running on the treadmill pointless

Okay, I am going to ask a silly question.

Jambo and Kidani, are they two separate buildings and must be walked only from the outside (no indoor connection).

We walked from Kidani to Boma and back yesterday and it took us under five minutes to get there. It's along the parking lot on one side. (does this really matter that much?) :confused3 After you go down past the buses, it's flat. There is a wheelchair entrance and pedestrian entrance on the Boma side when you return. Honestly, it's not that big a deal. If you don't want to walk...just jump on a resort bus. For the life of me, I can't understand why people get worked up over this. lol

I'm with you on this sentiment! Disney World is made for walking. I thought it was a nice stroll, and I much prefer the outdoor walk to long indoor hallways. I find thelong indoor hallways to be annoying.

It looks like this walk is similar to the distances between the outermost sections of SSR and the main hub. I just pulled up BroganMC's map with the distances measured by CaskBill. For some reason, I can't copy it into this post.

Anyway, as you know, there have been no shortage of complaints about "how far I had to walk" at SaratogaSprings, so I am sure there will be complainers about the walk at AKV.

Regarding the path - I tried to find it the other day but it wasn't readily apparent to me where it was. Bill mentioned going down some stairs. Are these stairs before you get to the bus stops or do you walk through the bus stops to get to it? I have a feeling in December, I will be using this path a lot as I go back and forth to Mara.
