We will be traveling 2/13/03 with my in-laws. My FIL recently
had surgery and is not able to walk long distances. Will he
be able to get to the beach at Castaway Cay? What about
Blue Lagoon?

I don't know about Blue Lagoon, sorry.

On Castaway Cay, they have a tram that picks up about 100 ft away from the ship and drops off about the middle of the family beach, there's another tram from there over to the adult beach if they want, so there shouldn't be too much trouble to get around.

I am not sure about Blue Lagoon but my Mom is not elderly but had a stroke at the young age of 56 and is considerably impaired with walking and use of the right side of her body. We used a wheel chair around the ship and then on Castaway Cay they have the trams so little to no walking. They also have sand wheel chairs right where to get off the tram.

Feel free to PM with more ?'s.

I haven't been to Blus Lagoon since '99 but I remember a lot of walking and no tram. Kathy

Well, I'd say that Blue Lagoon will be out, since it's a 15 - 20 minute walk from the ship to the boat that takes you out to Blue Lagoon. All the passengers were complaining, how LONG a walk it was!!!! Once you arrive there, there is some walking, but no more than 5- 10 minutes. At Castaway Cay, I'd say the tram is approx 5 minutes off the ship, and the tram drops you off maybe another short walk to the beach.

I traveled w/my mom (75) last Easter and she about died when she saw the size of the boat!! She has trouble walking and we were at the aft of the boat when most of the activities she enjoyed (shows, bingo etc.) were at the front. Needless to say, I enjoyed the size, but she refuses to travel on such a large vessel again. Also had trouble w/her equilibrium, therefore dinner was not much fun either....unlike my wonderful experiences!
