walking around disney

hi i have looked and just cant find info on this. Me and partner quite like the idea of walking from our resort to the parks is this possible? Does anyone know how many miles it is from the all star movies to any of the parks? Thank you for any light you can share on this matter

WDW is a hugh place. I dont think you can walk to any resorts from the All Stars. There are no sidewalks. You can walk to EPCOT and MGM from the Boardwalk.

The closest park to ASMo is Animal Kingdom, but I don't think I'd recommend trying to walk there. The other parks are definitely not walkable from there.

I read in simon vaness book that disney was 10 miles long and 5 miles wide. I might think about transport if i were you

From what I have read, and having been there it seems perfectly viable, WDW Resort in Florida is the size of Greater Manchester - 47 square miles - or similarly is the size of Manhattan. In general footpaths are thin on the ground - you'll not be able to walk from ASMo to anyone other than perhaps the Disney McDonalds.

The distances involved are:

MK: 7Miles
AK: 3Miles
DS: 2Miles
Epcot: 4Miles

EEK,I wouldnt attempt to walk from ASMO it is a fair distance...I would definately travel to the parks..

The big reason not to walk from resort to park would be the fact that there are just no pavements (sidewalks to us Stateside) The roadways are also very wide in places (six or so lanes) so I wouldn't want to be crossing any of those!! There are a few on/off ramps too which wouldn't help either. I can imagine park secuirty would be very interested in what you were doing...walk? what? why?!! However you can walk between the Grand Floridian, Polynesian and TCC (the main transport center) You can walk to the Boardwalk, MGM and Epcot from Yacht and Beachclub in addition to what was mentioned above.

walking up to 4 miles is nothing! but the fact that there are no paths is worrying! maybe we will have to take the buses afterall!

Walking 4 Miles in Orlando's humidity would be very hard. I'm a fit person but was very tired after walking distance's in Florida I'd normally be able to run no problem in the UK

I cant remember how tired i was in florida, ime sure i was but i think you run on adrenaline when there. I know when we got home the beginning of May it took another holiday in August to feel relaxed again. I was sooo tired when we got home ime definatley taking it easier next time we go.

first time we went to orlando we walked to universal studios from international drive not a big walk and it didnt bother me BUT i ended up with sunstroke (almost ruined our holiday)so walking in orlando in the heat is a no no..
and yes disneyworld is approx 47 sq miles.
