Walking a reservation question

I am attempting to "walk a reservation" prior to 7 months (by a week.) I am only showing 2 of the 7 days available and the rest of it as a waitlist. Do I reserve these 2 or do I need to see all availability at once? I tried reading through all of the old threads on the topic and it is a bit confusing. TIA for your help!

If there are any holes you won't be able to walk. Walking only works if there is availabilty for you to grab and gradually modify forward. If you are trying to piece something together then grab days that you need as you can. There's no point grabbing dates that you don't need if there is no walk available.

I don't think walking at 7 months works very well due to owners being able to interrupt you. You can reserve the two if you like so you have them, for sure. You may need to have a plan B if you don't get the rest of the days.

It's not really feasible to walk a reservation at 7 months as the resort owners can make a reservation at any time prior to the 7 months and grab your dates. I guess a waitlist is your best option.

I actually thought about trying this for an AKL Value Studio reservation, and I own at AKL. The possibility of walking was interrupted very early on in the process so I don't believe it would have been successful.

However I was able to get the same type accommodation over the upcoming week after Christmas to past NYE by booking what I could find one day at a time and wait listing at the end. So, even as an owner "stalking" can work out better than "walking".

I am just nervous because since it is Aulani we don't want to be left without a place to stay and the expensive airfare. I was hoping to go into it without any waitlist. I seems as if 1/2 of it will be watilisted and I would have to do as you described and try every day
