Thanks for asking, Connie. I have never been motivated to do anything as I am for this (except probably my first marathon!) This is the first week of my official 20-week training program and I am fired up. God willing, I'll be able to keep my focus for the entire time. The foot issues are not totally resolved, but I am back doing water aerobics to add flexibility without stress. It's going to be a very tough course, but I'm going to tell myself to soak in and savor every grueling moment and hopefully I'll be able to do it. Are you doing any events in January? I think I'm just doing the 5K but I will be scream-teaming for sure!
There will be a TON of walkers! I'm not sure of everyone's exact screen name, but here is a list of the ones that I know offhand will be walking:
Myself and my hubby (John), Wendy, Pat, Lily, Robert, Linda, Tracy, Anne, Bob....and a whole bunch of others that do a run/walk combination.

Awesome. I don't post much on the boards but do a lot of lurking. Still the WISHers always feel like friends. It's inspiring to see those lime green shirts and hats. It's good to know there are other people out there at the race who understand I walk because I choose to.
Kim, with only 50 posts in over 5 months, this thread has been dead for a long time! It's a shame too because this was always one of my favorite places to seek refuge. I think most of the walkers are going Goofy this year and that's where everyone is hanging out.
If all goes well, I should get the coast to coast medal in a few weeks! However, after this morning's 12-miler, I'm not so sure. Why are some training sessions just so ugly? The only good thing I can say about today's walk is that I was able to do it a day early and so my training week is now finished! 10 down, 10 to go......
You go Jeanne!!!Post a picture of you and all your glory, ha,ha. So you'll get a castle medal plus the coast to coast? How does DL know that you completed the WDW half, or full?

I really don't know the answer to that one......my guess is that they have it "on file" somewhere. I seem to remember them saying something like that when I registered. All I know is that when I pick up my bib, I will confirm that they have me down for the extra medal. I'm thinking that they will probably give me a wristband like they do for the Goofy.
Kim: as I said to my kids last night, "Don't you guys realize I'm training for the NYC marathon!?! I have no time for weddings!" In view of that, I'm so glad I didn't sign up for the Goofy.
New Walker here. I love all the great tips that everyone is providing ! i plan on walking/running the Disney Princess Half marathon. Feel free to give any Advice!
