This is the place fo walkers to come and feel at home. We are the future of endurance sports and we are courage and determination. We have taken on the baddest of distances and made them ours.

This thread is all you need it to be, there are wakers on the WISH that have done the half, the full and the Goofy, some have done each several times. You can ask questions, give others the benefit of your experience or just talk about walking and being an athlete.

Remember we are all athletes, some of us are just further along in our training, so don't worry if you are new to distance walking join right in. We were all new once.

Spring is almost here and with it the opportunity to walk outside in the sun and feel the best mom nature has to offer. I'm personally gearing up for the coming race season and will continue to race through out the year with my season ending in January for the 2010 Goofy.

Ah, a wonderful new thread for walkers! I love walking:goodvibes It clears my mind, reduces my stress.....just makes me feel good.

Hey Walkers!

Nice to have a new thread for 09!! Love getting out in nature and walking. Like Sharon said, it clears my mind!

Today was a rest day for me. We decided to go ahead and take today and get out pass port cards done. As of June 1st you must have cards to go back and forth to Canada or Mexico.

Tomorrow will be my group walking day so that will be a brisk 6 miles. To bad it will be cold again. Boo Hiss, on the darn cold.

Walkers, woggers, I do a little of both. I am mainly a walker with a little bit of jogging from time to time. I always have this fear that since I am so new to the endurance level of sports, that I am about to be swept away so I add a little jog to keep me ahead of such things happening.

Great new thread and a great start. Hoping to go out for 10 or 12 miles tomorrow, if the weather permits.:worship: :worship:

Hey walkers, out for a nice 3 miler today after taking the week off from the Disney Princes Half Marathon. I figured I deserved it. So I have a racewalk on the 28 so I will be do ing some speed drills and such. It's a 5k and that is my distance for racewalking.

How is everyone doing with there walking?

Tracy

Well it's pouring rain so today was going to be a tready day. I drove to the gym and the person who was supposed to open the gym didn't get the memo. I had a treadmill in the house but gave it away because it was major in the way. So today became another rest day.

Happy walking y'all.

Most WISHers are back from the Princess half, and many of us are going through Disney withdrawal in one form or another....

So, to spread a little PD pixiedust: that will keep everyone moving forward with a Tiggerish bounce in our training steps, tomorrow's mixer question is:

Who or what is your favorite Disney character, and why?

We hope that you feel inspired to post some light-hearted Disney memories on the Team 'Ohana thread. Pictures--from races, recent trips, childhood experiences--and stories are welcomed. And if your favorite character is a Pixar one--or gasp, from some other studio--feel free to share that as well.

Well gee sweet Debra, my favorite character to see at Disney is me. I'm surely a character and I like seeing me at Disney.

Hey fellow walkers, I'm in! Walking is my stress reliver. I never knew how much it could help until I got out there and did it!! Tomorrow is my long walk day, probably about 6 miles this week. My Tuesday walking partner and I are adding jogging to the mix and hope to jog more than we walk in our next 5K. We'll see!

Have a great Monday everyone!!

Suzanne, I know exactly what you mean. If I don't walk, I get grouchy!

Popping in to say hello!

Got out for a walk at lunch - casual 2.5 miles but felt good to be out in the fresh air and sun w/o a coat. :goodvibes

Looking to pick up speed for CMM - really want to PR that one.

That's a super way to get in some extra miles Liz.

I have been having some ankle pain and realized yesterday it's from stepping in the holes the puppy has dug in the yard. Anyone want a puppy?

Yesterday was 5 on the treadmill with some speed play mixed in and today will be the same, it's so foggy out that it's near Zero visability, I wanna be walking along the side of the road in that.

:goodvibes I would love a puppy, but we're gone way too much to get another dog. :sad1:

That's a lot of fog, glad you decided not to walk in it. I would send you some of our sun if I could. We're having another near perfect day here (70 and sunny), that's going to change tomorrow, but I will definitely be outside taking advantage of it today.

Please join us on the 'Ohana team thread for the Monday Mixer. The Mixer starts here.

There are many reasons why we race. Sometimes it's a way to challenge ourselves. Sometimes it's a strategy to keep ourselves motivated. Sometimes it's a reason to reunite with old friends and meet new ones. And sometimes, just sometimes, it's about the goodies. :teeth:

This week's question is about those goodies:

What is your favorite medal/t-shirt/race-bag goody, and WHY?

So come on over to 'Ohana. Share with us your favorite pictures and stories. Brag about the bling. If you haven't done a medal-awarding event, tell us about a shirt. If you love a particular expo, we want to know why. And if you're new to races, visit anyway. You can get some ideas for future races and "ooh" and "ahhh" over the pretty, shiny things.

On a more serious note: Two of our 'Ohana cousins, Maria and Richard, could use some extra hugs, well wishes, and PD this week. If you've got the time, please let them know you're thinking of them.

Hey Walkers...

I just did the 7th Annual Run Like a Bunny 5k race walk this morning. It was held over on Pompano Beach.
I did my best time for a 5K racewalk with 38min 19sec!

Wanted to show you some of the other times and also the top 3 men.

Tracy you did super.

I had a skunky race this morning. It was raining, windy and hilly. I took a nap in the car before the race instead of warming up, couldn't see warming up in pouring rain. I had my worse race for over 3 years. My watch time was 36:54 and clock was 37:08, for an 11:54 pace.

They had chicken biscuits for the after race refreshments and by the time I got in the runners ahead of me and the spectators had eaten all the food. I was thinking the last mile how nice it would be to get in the dry car and eat a chicken Biscuit, darn.

Hungry Panda:hippie:

oooohhh, Dave! Sorry about your race! I feel bad for you. (especially about the fact you didn't get food!)

And, thanks again for the congrats and the encouragement!
