has anyone experienced using walkie talkies at the theme parks?or using mobiles to communicate.

If the laws are still the same, our walkie talkies are not legal in us, work on a banned frequency.
You can pick them up over there cheap enough but make sure they have a very good range and a lot of different channels, loads of people use them so you get cross interferance.
We use mobiles and text each other when with friends, never had a problem. Got fed up of carrying Walkies around with us.

We used our mobiles this year as there were 26 of us. A couple tried the walkie talkies but kept getting interferance from other people using them!

Having tried both, I woudl recommend mobiles everytime. there is too much interference with walkie talkies and you can't reach each other that easily.

we bought TRACFONES from WalMart. they were $19.99 each and are pay as you go. You register them by phone (you will need a Zip code from the place where they will be most frequently used) and buy more top-ups from supermarkets, gas stations etc. they do not work in the UK but when you return to Florida (and you will!!!) you just register them again, top them up and off you go! Easy peasy!!!!:)

I'll give another :thumbsup2 for the TRACFONES We used them last time without any problems and the're already in the pile for our next trip on the 1st of Feb.:dance3:
