DH is been having severe back pain and is in treatment. We ae doing a sea/land adventure and I rented a standard scooter from Walker to be picked up at the Hyatt pre cruise. We are taking DCL transportation from airport hotel and to resorts.
We are doing a split stay post cruise at Riverside and Kidani.
We will get a rental car and I have prices for an Emerald Club mid-size at CCC and a price for a mini-van (Dodge Grand Caravan or similar) at CCC.
Can a Walker standard scooter be wheeled or ramped into the mini-van so I don't have to take it apart. DH in his condition cannot assist with the lifting. Its just us old folks travelling, 2 adults.

While a ECV would fit in the back of a minivan with the back row of seats removed, you may face a couple of issues: 1. Many rental agencies will not remove and store seating for you- you get the ENTIRE van, seating and all. 2. (and perhaps more importantly)- a ramp is NOT included in van rental, and the hotels do not have one (AFAIK). That means you'd have to lift the ENTIRE ECV into the van (maybe remove the batteries). MUCH heavier than the individual pieces.

Thanks, I'm thinking a full size car with a big trunk too, but then I have to take the scooter apart. My third choice is to use disney bus transportation with lifts instead of using the rental. Lots to decide in two weeks.

We often split the difference and sometimes use the car and sometimes Disney transportation. It depends a little on what resort we're staying at and our plans for the day/evening. We've also been known to use Disney transport in the morning and an accessible taxi in the evening, especially if dining at a resort or doing something (Jellyrolls) after theme park hours.

If renting a full-size car, you may want to avoid an ECV with a captain's chair- they take quite a bit of space.

The ECV you would want for ease of travel with car or van would be one called a Travel scooter. These are meant to come apart for travel in a vehicle. They usually break down into 4 pieces and the heaviest piece being under 40lb.

Those scooters with a captains chair are not meant for this and are much heavier and bigger than a travel scooter.

You could get away with a standard size vehicle like a Ford Fusion since it is only the two of you. That is my personal car and my Go-Go Elite Traveler Plus 3 wheeled scooter fits into the trunk easily. My 69 year old Mom can handle every piece of the scooter to load if I am not able to help. The rear wheel section and the battery is the 2 heaviest pieces. They are more cumbersome than heavy.
