Walk up seating at T-Rex

On 7/20 (a Tuesday) we are planning to have dinner at T-Rex in DTD. I didn't plan to do ADR's on T-Rex because I was thinking Disney Dining didn't do them for T-Rex. About 5 weeks ago when I was booking other ADR's I decided to check on T-Rex. Well the only thing I could get for dinner was a seating for 2 at 5:00pm. My son and I are going with my BFF and her son and we all are arriving on the 20th. Seeing that we are arriving different times and I didn't know her plans for that day I booked it.

I was surprised that I couldn't get a table for 4 that far out for T-Rex. So I was thinking that maybe they hold back x number of tables for walk up seating? Anyone have any experience in this. I do plan on going up to the podium (as early as possible. I expect to be checking in to the Swan around 3pm and then heading to DTD) and asking if they can change us to a table of 4. I have no problem waiting if they can. I just want to know what my chances are of getting a table around that time.

I am also considering changing to Wolfgang Pucks. My friend and her son are only joining us for 5 nights of an 11 night trip. So I have other times I can go. But I thought my friends son would love Trex too.

You may be able to call the restaurant directly and book a reservation:
(407) 828-TREX (8739).

That's what we had to do last July, before Disney started taking reservations for the restaurant. My understanding is that Disney only has a percentage of the available ressies, the restaurant books some and there is also walk up available. The walk up didn't seem too bad last year- about 25 minutes I think- and there is the Lego store right next door to kill some time.

We are returning to TREX a week from tomorrow (ADR booked thru Disney)

call direct,at my 180 day mark I tried to book thru disney and could not get any ressie my whole 14 day stay.
I called direct and got my first choice,which was a 7 pm time.....the girl even asked if I wanted a table for that very night,but I had to decline...the travel time would not allow !

Or, if you are a Safari Club member, you get a discount and front of the line.
As others mentioned, from what we have read here it is always best to call TRex direct for lots more availability.

we walked up (party of 5) last year on the Sunday labor day weekend. we had no res and were seated immediately. it was about 5pm. when we left there was a long line, but we got lucky.

You will probably get your time.

We had 6:00 PM ressies for four on a Sunday night in June. The walk up wait at that time was probably less than 15 minutes. When we left the restaurant an hour or so later the wait was over 45 minutes.

I agree with pp's - call directly.

I've heard that T-Rex only gives Disney Dining 20% of their seating - leaving 80% for direct reservations/walk-ups.

We were there at 3:00 last Saturday and there were people being seated immediately with walk-up seating. This was after I was so stressed about being late for our ADR.
