H and I are going to the World in September. For the last three trips, we have been unable to get an ADR for Le Cellier - lunch or dinner, doesn't matter, we just want to try it out. (We've never eaten there.)

Am I crazy to even try walking up and hoping for a table? I'm thinking I might have more luck at lunch, and maybe if we went right at opening. Any thoughts/others who have had luck getting in as a walk up? Thanks! :)

It doesn't hurt to try, but I wouldn't get my hopes up. You could also try the dining number in the morning and see if there is anything for lunch.

I agree about not getting your hopes up, but it doesn't hurt to try. We were able to do a walk up with a party of 12 last May, and they were able to seat us right away. They said if our entire party wasn't there within 5 minutes we would lose the table. I also think the Le Cellier hype is more now than it was then, too. But- it never hurts to try! There could be a no show by someone with an ADR!

Well when we were there in April the CM told us to always try for a walk up you never can tell. So go for it we are going to try to. But I have back up ress at a resturant at our hotel so it would be a major effect if I canceled them.

a year ago we walked up to Le Cellier and someone was in front of us and "THEY" got a walk in......we were laughing cause we literally stopped and smelled the roses......but we were able to get a reservation this past May......worth the trying......

VERY hit or miss on that. I would say much bigger chance of miss though..
Dont worry, they've dropped a few things off the menu that people adored, so once other people then us web-heads find out, I think the popularity will start to drop..

I've seen people turned away at non peak times in all seasons.

What did they drop off the menu?

Maple BBQ filet, and some shrimp dish or something seafoodish that my wife had and LOVED, and I didnt see the maple ice cream with some cracker thing sprinkled on it... forget what it was called. Seriously, if all that was still on there, I would have tried to get on the DDP and had NUMEROUS ADR's at LC for my november trip, we LOVED LOVED LOVED it.. But alas, about the only thing still on it is the cheese soup and the pretzel bread that we loved..
I'm sure other stuff is really good, but we loved that meal..

We had a reservation right at opening (4 or 4:30, can't remember?) during free dining in early Sept. last year. We saw a few families turned away and told there would be no walk up reservations taken for that entire evening.

When we were waiting for our table at lunch back in February, everyone we saw walk in without an ADR got turned away. They were told there was nothing at all available for the rest of the day. Keep in mind that people do cancel, even at the last minute. I think you should try at lunch, and if there's nothing available, perhaps they'll have something open for dinner. It's worth a shot, either way!
