Hi all,

Long time, no talk.

Been very busy on my end-so busy that yours truly not only forgot that Blue Bayou was switching back to reservations but also I have been failing at reservation making which is something i pride myself on being good at in WDW. IDK if part of that is cuz I am on the East Coast but im just feeling very defeated.

Has anyone had any luck with walk ps? I am still trying every ding dang day for a reservation, but if anyone has had success with walk ups please tell me your stories.

Edited to add we are a party of 3 adults!

As for me I am accepting defeat for the moment.

Thanks

BH5

Don't feel bad. I HATE HATE HATE the dining reservation "system." It's horrible and puts so much stress on people when it should be a fairly simple procedure that doesn't induce mental meltdowns.

Anyway, I can't answer your question for the current crowds as I've not been since Dec, but at that time we easily got a walk-up and a waterside table at that. The wait was about 15 min. We were a party of 2 and the size of your party will likely have something to do with the wait time or even whether or not you can get a reservation. I will just add that our party of 2 was seated at a table that could hold 4.

Thank you-I did edit my post to include we are 3 adults. I just feel horrible because I am so on top of things and we really only want one or two sit down meals and its so hard. I hated the 180 day system and am not a fan of the 60 day. I wish it was a middle ground like 100. le sigh

You could set an alert on the 2 websites that do Disneyland reservation dining alerts (I guess we aren't allowed to post their names anymore as it blanked them out when I posted them, but if you google you should easily find them). Those really helped with our dining reservations for our trip last October. We picked up everything we wanted and couldn't get through those, and were able to get better times on others too. Lots of people switch things around or change plans, especially at the last minute. I got everything I wanted through the alerts, but the alerts were still set and in the couple of days leading up to our trip and even while on our trip, I had a ton of alerts going off. If you want to try a walk up- try being there right when they open.

I had the free version of one of the sites ktim mentioned, which meant I got email alerts. Unfortunately, I'm never quick enough through emails to grab it before it's gone. You can get texts though if you pay, which might be worth it in many cases but since I go fairly often, not so much for me.

With Verizon if you set the alerts email address to 2125551234@vtext.com, the alert will come through as a text (obviously use your phone number instead of 2125551234). Other cellular providers probably offer something similar.

Don’t feel bad! Life definitely has a way of getting the way of our Disney habits! I think you’ll have a good chance of getting a walk up. My friend just did it last week. It wasn’t some crazy ordeal. I think they walked up around 4 when BB was switching to dinner and had a 15 min wait.

For our trip last October, we were trying to get the Lamplight brunch and also maybe get some different times on another meal, in addition to Oga's (I missed the drop by 15 minutes as they dropped in the middle of the day). I had the free service set up for quite a while and it worked for one of the reservations I wanted, and then as our trip got closer and I still didn't have everything I really wanted (and the times I wanted), I paid for the other service about a week and a half before our trip. We got everything we wanted at the times we wanted before our trip. Both services were great--- and I noticed that about a week before our trip and especially all the way through our trip-- my phone was blowing up with alerts. I already had gotten the rest of what I wanted with the paid service before we arrived, but I certainly would have had lots of options.

One thing you do need to do is log in every few days and be sure your alerts are still showing as active. I noticed that mine were turning off. I feel like maybe it was happening when I would click on an alert to try to get the reservation, but the Disney website would tell me I was too late it was gone. Maybe the website assumed that I had gotten it? Or maybe they only last a certain amount of time? Not sure, but I did have to reactivate alerts several times.

As said above, be sure it is set to text you- not just E-mail. You can be sure that others are looking for the same thing you are. You want to know the minute that alert gets sent. It is a race. I can't remember if I was clicking through the text--- or jumping on the app or website when I got the alert. I seem to remember that when I clicked through the text, I was not necessarily logged in- so I may have started jumping on the app where I was logged in instead to try to grab it. But--- that might have been when I was getting e-mails and it might have worked through the text- I can't remember.
Good luck!! I hope you get it

Thread highjack:

Anyone know if there is a difference between lunch and dinner any longer? (price and meals?)

They look the exact same...

According to reports, they are the same.

So I did this and I got 2 alerts today and immediately clicked on them but then I had to log in and by that time, both alerts were invalid. Boo.

so , heres how you do it.

Keep the Dis app open. The moment you get the alert, go straight to the Dis app, and hit the plus sign to add reservation, pick the general time (lunch dinner) and Blue Bayou is almost always the first or second to show up.

Much faster than following any links.

You already know the day you set the alert for…..

I'll try that, but I'm actually after Trader Sam's, which is way down the list. And I have 4 alerts set for TS's and it doesn't say in the text which it is so not sure what day/time to look at on the Dis app.

ETA: it's not a big deal, though. We're staying at DLH and will just try for walk-ups. If we get in, great. If not, oh well! Tangaroa is nice :)

TS has very regularly had walk-up availability on the app these last few days.

Thank you. Do you have to be within a certain range to see it?
You can see all of the walk-up availability on the app, but you need to be within a certain range to join the list. If a restaurant is available and you try to join the list when you are too far away the app will tell you to move closer.
