Could not get ressie here when booking, but I was wondering if there are a lot
of no shows, and if anybody has experience walking up and getting table on standby. It would sure help meeting characters while you eat as compared to waiting in long lines in parks.

1) If you go right at the start of a meal time, sometimes.
2) If you go during a meal time, hardly ever.

There is no way to really no about no shows.

The only thing you can do is go and see. Depending on the time of year you go, free dining, a busy time of year will all play a role in getting in.
If you are going during one of these times you will have to weigh if it would be worth it or not. I see that the reason you wish to go is to avoid long character lines. But you very well may spend 1-2hrs waiting for a table IF they even say they can seat you.

There is always a chance, but if there is an opening it is usually a long wait. Keep trying to get a ressie it is much better.

Have a great trip!!

Possible? Yes.

Probable? Not so much.

You're better off keeping watch on if any reservations open up; particulary around 45 days out from when you are going which is when final payments on packages are due and some people decide not to go through with their trip. You also can check when you are in WDW either by calling yourself, or by checking with the concierge desk at your resort or with guest relations in the parks or at DTD.

I agree to keep trying to book it online...chance of walk-up is not good since that is about the #1 character meal for people wanting to be sure to see Mickey Mouse.

If you're going during an incredibly slow time, like January 10 (after the Christmas holidays, but before the MLK Jr holiday weekend) then yes, you could get a walk-up for breakfast if you show up between 7:00-7:30 AM. But starting between 7:30 & 8:00 AM, you'd hear 30-45 minute wait. At 8:15 as we were leaving they were telling people 60-75 minute wait.

To tell you how slow was slow week...there was NO wait for any ride in Magic Kingdom until well after lunch. And then the headliner rides had a 20 minute wait (but was really more like 10-15 minutes.) There was wide expanses of pavement totally empty in Magic Kingdom & Epcot that week.

i would keep trying for a ressie as well, i spent the last two months stalking the website trying to get a chef mickey adr and finally got one yesterday morning. I was checking every morning and night though. but i got it.

I asked the same question a couple of days ago. I am desperate for this one reservation for 7 people! If I don't get anything else for the entire week, then I can live with that but I really want Chef Mickeys. We are going to the Parks from June 4th - 10th.

Good luck! I hope both of us can get the reservation.

Thanks for the responses. Will keep trying the internet site.

Keep trying online ...

However, we have had luck with walk-up when getting in line before they open ... I think around 4:30 or 5. We've had to wait maybe 15-20 minutes but have been able to get seated and enjoy a very nice meal. We normally go during the first week in July ... not a slow time by any means -- but not busy like Christmas/Thanksgiving.

We actually are arriving June 3rd sometime and leaving the morning of the 11th. We are planning on doing the parks June 4th - 10th with a Universal day thrown in there on Tuesday or Wednesday! We are staying off site in Indian Creek.
