walk to Universal?

Can anyone recommend an off site hotel that is close enough to walk to Universal? We're not looking for anything terribly expensive, but not cheap either. Or maybe someone knows a hotel that has free transportation and is very close.

We have stayed at the doubletree on major blvd and it is only a 10 min walk to universal but you have to cross kirkman drive which is busy but we have managed to do it and they also have free transportation and there is als a holiday Inn and hyatt place in the same area and I think they have free transportation too.
