Ok, I am hoping we can do this.....we have res. at Worldmark Anaheim ,on W.Katella ave..... the site says it's a 1/2 mile from DL- can we walk to the gates? a 1/2 mile is nothing for us to walk- are the roads/sidewalks ok for this? never having been there,I know what looks like one thing on a map can look quite different IRL:thumbsup2 I'd prefer not to use a car for a 1/2 mile trip;)

Easy walk. Lots of sidewalk, and others walking around - all will be tourists, as Californians LOVE their cars.
:yay:

Well we eat at Bubba Gumps at the Anaheim City walk which is a 10 minute walk or so from Disneyland, and your hotel is about a block more away passed the city walk. So your looking at a good 15 minute walk min. It will feel a lot longer at night after the park closes. I would suggest looking into ART (Anahiem Resort Transit). Its Disneyland shuttles that leave the park every 15 minutes and drop you off or pick you up at the nearest bus stop closest to your hotel. Its $3.00 for each adult per day for unlimited day use. But like the previous poster said. If you dont mind the walk, you have large side walks, lots of tourists and the walk is lovely.

Yes, you will be fine doing that walk. We've done it from the Peacock Suites (which is on the block behind the Wyndham) with no issues at all, it's easy, there are big sidewalks and walk signs for you to use. :)

I have walked from Worldmark before. However, we often use ART (Anaheim Resort Transit). It's a couple bucks per day and it's pretty easy. You get picked up outside Worldmark and it drops you off right at the gate.

thanks so much for the replies!:thumbsup2 as far as walking after dark, will it be unsafe? is that why we should consider the shuttle? If so,then I will....if it's safe, then walking doesn't bother us at all...

The Anaheim Resort District is safer compared to just blocks outside of it. It's kept cleaner than typical urban areas and patrolled more.

Using the shuttle at night is a good way to help your legs save a half mile walk after walking ten miles during the day.

I would stay off walking on the roads unless crossing them.

Should be quite safe. There's a fire station right across the street, and the DL cast member shuttle runs up and down Clementine.

I just saw this on another thread and thought it would be beneficial to repost...

if you go down to the post by Connie B she wrote something about catching the bus from the toy story parking lot right across the street from WM...:goodvibes

Yep...that's me! The walk isn't bad in the morning....but wow at night that 1/2 mile feels like about 10 miles. So if you're up to it in the morning...go for it...and if at night you wish you hadn't...just grab the Toy Story bus, ride it back to Woody Lot and cross the employee lot to the light at the corner of Katella and Clementine....Worldmark is right there and mine is behind ya!

As for safe after dark.....my teenage daughters and I have walked many of the resort areas around Disneyland at night and not felt unsafe. Sure you still need to keep your head about you because it's certainly not immune to crime, but as three females wandering around I have not had any cause to think it wasn't a smart idea for us to be out at night. Not sure I feel that way in many parts of my own hometown!

Interesting - I'd pictured WorldMark where the Residence Inn actually is, but I see it's on Katella. So you can walk through the Cast Member parking lot from the Toy Story lot?

Yes....if you hover over the larger square in your map behind the cast member park, do you see the curved curb section? That is where the buses pick up and drop off for the Woody section. Get off the bus and walk over to the Cast Member parking lot...there is an opening to the cast member section (cones block you from driving into Cast Member lot, but obviously don't stop walkers)....go straight on the driveway out to Katella...cross the street and you're at Clementine/Katella....you'd then turn right to go to Worldmark (labeled 211 on your map).

The lots are all well lit of course so no scary dark walks...and there is a signal at the corner of Clementine/Katella with a cross walk, so no dodging cars required.

After you cross, if you turn left instead of right that is Garden Walk, full of shops and restaurants.....if you want a late night bite before bed. McCormick Schmeck has "Happy Hour" from 3pm-6pm and again from 9:30 to closing with some awesome food items at VERY low prices (check their website for changing Happy Hour specials). Kids are allowed in for Happy Hour (can't sit AT the bar, but can sit at a table in the bar area).

Interesting ~ I was chewed out *by CMs* a bit last July when DD and I did the same thing to save our legs *well she had a stroller* when we were staying the Motel 6.... I guess they've relaxed a bit.

I guess they have, because we actually stopped once and did pin trading with a parking attendent IN the CM portion, lol. She cautioned us to be careful to watch for cars and buses, but didn't say not to walk through there.

And we've done it several dozen times since we got our APs in October. Not positive of the count because some days we drove to the TS lot knowing we were going somewhere other than the hotel afterwards....but we've been to Disneyland a total of 41 nights since October so far....another 9 nights coming up in 2 weeks!!

While the walk is not that far, remember the difficulty of the walk seems to increase exponentially as the night gets later! Especially with kids!
