Walk to Bus Stops

Please help...planning trip for Jan 2009 and need to know which bus stops to resorts are closest to each park. Will rent ECV in parks but the walk to the bus for POP last year was too much for my bad knee. Will be taking my 8 year old DGS and he wants CBR but I need to consider disatnce as I can only walk so far and there are not benches along the way

Once you get to the bus stops it varies by park.

One thing to consider is renting an ECV from an off-site vendor. This will give you access to an ECV for the entire trip, including getting around at the Resort. All the Disney buses are equipped either with lifts or ramps. Also, the rental ECVs cost less than the Disney rentals, and they are three-wheel and much more maneuverable than Disney's.

If a walk relatively so short is too long for you; seriously consider renting an ECV offsite! I mean; if anything comes up while you're there and they'ld move 'your' bus stop, you'ld be in too much pain! Or if you're having a bit of a worse day anyway, you'll even not want to walk to the stop closest by.

The bus stop for CBR isn't allways the closest, by far. I'm really racking my brains here (shame on me, just been there last september), but at least at AKL and MK it was one of the last bus stops.

Give yourself a painfree experience as can be and rent offsite. I can even be cheaper and it'll make you and DGS happier to know you're not in more pain than absolutely needed.

I agree with the above about renting an ECV. Even if the bus stop is closer at a particular hotel, it might be moved temporarily for construction. Also the distance is only one part you may find yourself traveling in tandem with a large group or a bus might be delayed. In both cases you might be faced with a very painful wait.

Ditto on renting off site from me! Disney try to change which hotels have the shortest walk to their bus stop from park to park, so you may be nice and close at one park, and a fair trek away at the next. If you rent from off site it will be quicker (no queueing up to rent at the parks), easier (ditto), less hassle (no worries about the parks running out of rental ECVs), and often cheaper (don't think this one needs much clarification ). It will also mean you can use it to explore your resort, get to and from the food court (often a much longer walk than from the park to the bus) and also around DTD.

I agree with the others about renting an ECV from offsite.
Even if your resort does have the closest stop, it can be a ways form the bus stop to the entrance.
There also is never a particular bus that is closest to the park entrance.
As was already mentioned, the bus stop that is closest at one park might be the farthest away at another park.
In addition to that, Disney also periodically changes the order of the bus stops. So on one trip, CBR might be the closest at MK and the next time you take a trip to WDW, another resort might be closest.
Also, we have been on the bus when it didn't stop at the 'usual' stop for that resort. We took the bus from OKW to Epcot and expected to be at the stop close by where we were left off before. The bus dropped us off at the Epcot stop for a different resort because when he left Epcot, he was going to that resort.

Definitely rent off-site. Then you can get a CBR room and the distance won't really matter. (Be sure to request a first-floor room, though, as there aren't any elevators to bring an ECV up in!)

This is what I did when I took a friend of mine (who has MS) to Disney this past year. We rented from Walker Mobility and I requested a first-floor CBR room near the bus stop. We got a great room (it also was right next to a nice, hidden grassy area my service dog could potty in - I didn't request that, but I think someone doing the reservations knew who I was from another Disney board I'm on ) and it worked out perfectly for both of us (she used the ECV; I walk with the help of my dog).

Remember to use the internal bus service at CBR if you're going elsewhere, like to the check-in/luggage building or to the food/gift shop building - that is really a big help, with or without an ECV!

Rent off-site. It is actually about the same price, if not cheaper, than renting daily at the parks. And so much more convenient. In some of the parks, the walk from the bus to the wheelchair rental is quite a trek (Epcot comes to mind!)

We rented from Walker and the bill it was about $9.00 per day total.
