I'm not sure if this is the correct place to post this, but does any one know if there is a map indicating where the walking path is between Disney Hollywood Studios and the Boardwalk? My family and I will staying at the Boardwalk Villas this August, and would love to walk between Disney’s Hollywood Studios; Epcot and the Boardwalk. A few years ago we stayed at the Dolphin, I do not remember any pathway being clearly marked.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

It just follows the river from BW to DHS. It takes about 15 - 20 minutes. We walked this all the time last June. We beat the boats every time

You can't miss it. there is only one walkway next to the river. This was one of our favorite parts. The kids got sooo excited when they saw the Tower of Terror as we got closer and closer....About a 15-20 min walk:thumbsup2

It is on the opposite side of the river from the S&D.

It is a very nice walk, and you will always beat the boat if you have anything above a slow pace. It is .85 miles from the bridge between Y&B and Boardwalk to the front gates of DHS, and another .6 to the International Gateway from the same bridge, in case you were wondering.

It is clearly marked - if you walk out onto the boardwalk and you face the lake you will turn left and take that down between the resort and the dance hall and make another left and you'll be on the path.

There are several different places to access the walkway. You can follow the boardwalk all the way to the end, by Jellyrolls and pick it up there, behind Jellyrolls, on the way up to the bridge to the S/D. Or, you can just walk out, past the pool area, and pick up the walkway there. The walkway is a nice, wide, well lit sidewalk. It takes between 15-25 mins to walk, depending on your pace. I tend to do it in a bit less than 15 mins. I have walked it after dark and never felt unsafe as well.
It's one of the things I love about being at BW.

Since you are going in August please let me give you one warning.......if it looks anything like rain coming don't attempt the walk until it clears up.

A few years ago my son (teenager) and I left the Boardwalk and it started to drizzle. As we approached the underpass it started raining really hard. We ran under the cover but then the rain let up so after a brief stay we continued. About half way between the underpass and the Studios entrance it started pouring like crazy!

Since there was no thunder or lighting during this downpour we stayed somewhat dry under a tree for a little while. After a while the tree was no longer doing any good so we had to continue on. We were soaked when we got to the park entrance! Of course, it also stopped raining at that point.

It is amazing how quickly we dried in the hot June sun after the storm.

Bottom line is there is very little cover except for the underpass so plan wisely!

It is a great walk in nice weather. In the August heat you might want to consider the Friendship boat unless it's early morning or night.

The thing to do is to always have your handy dandy poncho with you at all times...especially in August. We left the Polynesian on the monorail, headed to MK. It was about 2:00 pm. As we rounded the corner into MK from GF, the skies opened, it started thunder and lightning. It was so bad, they wouldn't let us leave the monorail platform at MK. We stood there for an hour before braving the rain. It had gotten so dark that all the lights came on. But, the thing is...when we left the Polynesian, it was perfectly clear, a few clouds but hot/humid. The weather changes in a heartbeat in August...be prepared!

That's a good idea, but since Hubby and I hate the smell and the feel of those things, we keep one of those very small pocket umbrellas on us. They don't take up much room, are easy to shake out after the rain is over and they only take a minute or two to dry. :thumbsup2

Or just buy those slimey disposable ones for $.89 each. They are really small and you don't feel too badly about throwing them away at the end of the day. No smell like the Mickey ones.

Depending on where your room is located at the BWV, you might have easy access to the staircase and exit that dumps you out near the quiet pool/Community Hall. Take it if you can as it can make the walk to MGM considerably shorter....
