how far is it really? the maps i find are not to scale so can't really judge...

bearing in mind that december's COLD...

and.... lunch times... is it better to stay in the parks or head back to the village or into the hotel?

last time we only went for a day and stayed in a hotel off-site so we ate in Pizza Planet, and also again, lol - it was a LONG day, in the Hyperion and watched the Lion king...

When we stayed at Cheyenne we walked every time, even with 3 kids in tow.
I don't think Santa Fe is any further really :)

We've stayed at Cheyenne and Santa Fe and got the bus because our feet hurt! But it's not that far, probably 15 minutes, it's a really pleasant walk and getting the bus can be chaos! As far as the cold goes, you'll probably be warmer walking to the park rather than standing waiting for the bus!

It isn't far at all Becks. In the morning when half the guests are trying to get on buses (and of course nobody's ever heard of queuing!!!) it's easier to walk to the park but at the end of a long day on your feet we always opted for the bus!!!
We never go back to the hotel at lunchtime - there are so many eateries of one sort and another in the park and village. If it's really busy in the park the village should be quieter - unless everyone else has the same idea!!!

You have to walk at least once to see the ducks skating on the frozen up Rio Grande River! We always walk too - I hate queues so I try to avoid the shuttle buses!

My advice is walk TO the parks (around 15 - 20 mins if you take it easy) and catch the bus back. And never waste precious Disney time by going back to the Hotel for lunch

I would say walk too - but if you have to cross the wooden bridge be careful cos that can be very slippery if its a bit icy - I went over on it much to my childrens' amusement.

Santa Fe is less than 5 mins shuttle from the parks.......

I still get the shuttle though :rotfl: because i'm lazy :teeth: also, I WANNA GET THERE QUICKER!!!!!! :jumping1:

I would actually argue whether the shuttle is quicker, especially if you have to wait for it.

I think it is no more than 15 mins from the Sante Fe and it is a very pleasant walk along the canal - Unless you get distracted going through the Village with all the shops !!!!
