Walk-ing Back to Disney! COMPLETED 10/16! A Fall 2014 PTR!

awesome update! I might have actually squealed a little at the thought of being someone's fairy godmother! pixiedust: I just love, love, love my shoes! I look at those pictures all the time! you got the eyes on tiana just exactly right! I can't believe I didn't watch any of the 24 party. what was I thinking?!?

Bummer you missed the 24 hr party coverage, it was fun to watch!

Soooo happy you like the shoes!! Can't wait to see how the others turn out!

Those shoes are so cute. I can't wait to see the Doctor Who ones. You will have to post pictures. I really like your designs for Magic Bands too. I haven't really thought about whether we are going to decorate ours or not. How fun to see your friends on the live feed! And I love the Anna and Elsa dresses. They look so cute but also comfy. I am thinking about doing something similar so it was fun to see them.

Thanks! I'll def post a photo of the Dr Who ones when I'm done! I actually may enlist the hubs help on them, he's great with geometric shapes and the Tardis would probably be easy for him!

I went back and forth on the bands, but I'm happy with the idea of painting them. I was leaning towards temp tattoos for a while, but they don't stand out as much, so painting it is!

Great stuff! I should have know those Princess and the Frog shoes are for Lori!:lmao: Love the magic band ideas! I am a huge fan of your kissing Mickey's! You are getting sooooo good at painting the characters! Hooray:banana: for Olivia meeting the 40 inch mark! Charlotte is just under it. I am thinking she will probably be there by Sept. Now I just have to decide which rides she will be brave enough to handle!

For the rides you should def show her YouTube videos of them! That's what we did with Liv, she loves rides and did awesome on all if them. I didn't let her do ToT last time, but if she wants to I will let her this time. I say if they want to do it, let them!

Yes, we're only 2.5 weeks out, so I was VERY lucky to snag it. There had been nothing available, but I decided to pop onto MDE and see if I could change a current FP and it came up as an option! However, there was only 1 FP (and only 1 time). Lauren can't copy my FP+ to her - instead it changes it to Enchanted Tales when she tries. So, we are hoping we can snag one for her too - otherwise, at least she has other upcoming trips. We have both been looking frequently and there is nothing else available. I can't speak to what it's like at 60 days out, but my guess is you'll need to be ON IT!

That is a bummer it's just for one of you... But still awesome you got it! I will for sure be on the computer the moment I am able to do our FP+ choices, I've already picked the ones I want, so just gotta try to secure them now

I would maybe even reserve whatever your Anna/Elsa day is first to take advantage of your 60+10 window. Not sure if it's necessary, but I'm sure it's the hardest one to get.

GREAT UPDATE!!!

SO much to say about everything. AWESOMENESS you were able to get your friends to the camera!!! :cool1:

YAAAAY!!!

I saw all of this on fb but I haven't had time to come over here and check in!!!

First, THANK YOU for the shoes!:banana::banana: I am sooooooooo excited to get them. I actually just squeeled a little here at work when I saw the pics again. My coworkers just looked at me funny! hahaha :lmao:

I love those dresses!!!! And even more, I love that you and Lori are getting to be such good friends!!! I love the dis! :lovestruc

Congrats for getting your tickets!!! I am also doing little bits each payday. Plus I have been taking call since Easter to try to pay everything off faster. (I have been working like a mule and actually will have everything done much sooner than expected!!!) We got the MNSSHP tickets and added our AoA night for our arrival day. Now I have to buy tires for the van.......;)

We're getting closer.................:cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi Terri! I'm finally back from my travels and have caught up with your report. You have been one busy lady, but that does not surprise me!

First of all, what an inspired idea to do a snack-port!! And the pictures represent food porn at its' finest!!! I've had a few of them, but unfortunately, I'm usually too full to do very many snacks. One of these days Dan and I will take a trip with no dining plan and just snack our way through the worlds! Thanks for sharing your awesome ideas!:thumbsup2

Secondly, those shoes are adorable and so well done! I'm glad you love doing them, because I'm pretty sure everyone is going to keep you busy painting them. What a talent you have!:lovestruc

It is fantastic to get half of your airfare out of the way. I love your payday countdown. I did a "laundry day" countdown for one of my trips and that worked nicely, but payday would be even better. We get paid only twice a month, so time would seem to fly.

Hope you are having a great day!:goodvibes

love the shoes so cute I had to try some myself, you do much better art but I think mine pass the mustard for Disney....lol
Payday counting.....well we have 7 paydays until Disney Frank and I each get 1 payday a month so that counts them both....:)
love the Alice shoes......I can see why Raina squeeled when she saw them! Great job!!pixiedust:pixiedust:pixiedust:

I just commented on your thread, but I will say it again, welcome back!

I'm always busy, lol!

I agree with being so full that it's hard to snack! But I tried planning early and late meals this time and plan to snack, so I hope it works out!

I agree! The time flies for payday countdown, especially bi monthly!!

Wow! Pop at the same time!! Yay! Please stop me if you see me! I am planning on making a "Do You Dis?" sign for both my room window, and my stroller, so hopefully Dis-ers will be more apt to say hi to me, lol... I think EVERYONE should do that! ::yes::

So I don't see a PTR for ya, so tell me all your plans! Do you know where youll be each day and where your dining and all that jazz!?!?!? I LOOOOVE to read peoples park plans!! :hyper:

Anyway, I have had a paint-filled few days, I have completed two more pairs of shoes!! These ones a friend came over and helped me with, they are a gift from her to her friend who is headed to Disney for the first time in August! And these will be shipped off to that little girl in Puerto Rico soon! Yay! My shoes are leaving the continental US!! Lol... :rotfl2:

So here they are, a Sofia the First inspired pair, and a Toy Story pair! FYI, that's the little girls name written in the rope!

And, in other shoe news... I have had my first pair of painted shoes make it to Disney World!!!!

In other non-Disney news, this will apparently be a year of no themed birthday parties for us! We had big plans to rent a water slide and have a big party for Maddie next week, but Chris' work schedule and the grandparents schedules were not working out, so instead we decided to do a week night party at good ole' Chuck E Cheese. I know the kids will love it, but it kinda bums me out... its so not original, lol, but it's okay, we will make up for it next year.

Also, Chris and I have been discussing wanting to take another trip to D.C. and we really wanted to take Olivia this time, Maddie's still a little young for all the museums and such, so we were thinking when we should do this, and we thought maybe she'd like to do it as a birthday trip, however she's been constantly talking about having a super hero birthday party next year, and you know how pricey parties can get, so I figured we would let her choose. So this weekend the hubs and I spoke with her and asked if she would rather do a trip with only mom & dad, or a superhero party, she IMMEDIATELY picked a trip, not a second thought, lol... I then was feeling a tad guilty about excluding Maddie, so we asked if she would rather bring Maddie or have it just us three, and she voted to leave Maddie, lol... :lmao:

It's kinda sad, but I think she is super excited at the prospect of some time with just us, after all it's been nearly two years since we have had that!! We literally have never had just Olivia in all that time, we have had Olivia go stay places and just had Maddie, but not the other way around!

Needless to say, I am pretty excited about the trip also!! I have (of course) already begun planning like crazy. But I have hit a couple speed bumps I would like your opinion on....

#1 Her birthday is Feb 9, which is a very unpredictable, and usually cold month, so I think we have decided we will push the trip to late March and do a thurs night flight, and return on a Monday, so we will have 3 full days to explore. I feel kinda bad no party and then no trip around her actual birthday, but she's a pretty reasonable child, so I think she will fully understand the logic behind it. We will probably end up doing a small dinner or something to celebrate on her actual bday, and get her a gift she can use on or for the trip.

#2 I really want to do the Holocaust Museum this time, though I have heard it is not exactly kid friendly. Clearly, it deals with some awful things, but I am debating on just discussing and learning about this time with Olivia. I feel I could present it in a way she'd understand the basis of, and I think she would realize it is a solemn environment at this museum and be able to get a lot out of it. I know her, and even though she is only 5, she is very bright and very compassionate. I could totally see her looking at the shoe display and just understanding what it means, and getting it, ya know. But I go back and forth. I just don't know. I want opinions! I do know they offer a booklet on how to tour this museum with kids, and how to talk about it with them, so some people have taken kids there. Also you get a file with a person when you enter, and you learn all about them, and at the end you find out if they lived or died in the Holocaust, and I know Olivia would understand that and be very interested.

Maybe I'm nuts, I realize its a very emotional, sad, and horrific event. But I just feel like she'd somewhat understand... *sigh* If I don't take her I think I will find a way to maybe go by myself while her and the hubs do something else. But I really hate for Chris to miss it too... and they do have a short kids exhibit too...

Anyway. Any and all opinions welcome!!

I'm usually a lurker, but I wanted to comment on your DC trip since it's right in my backyard so to speak. I went to the Holocaust Museum for the first time when I was 17 as a class field trip. My father was a chaperone, and I can honestly say that I was super thankful he was there. The museum is pretty intense and was a lot to process when we were done. I'm not sure your little girl is old enough for the subject matter presented. There are train cars among other items from that time. On the other hand, she may just be young enough to not understand either. I know you're not close and it's a chance that might not happen again to see the museum, but I would really research it if I were you. Just my two cents.

Be sure not to miss the National Zoo and the sculpture garden while you there. You can also sign up for a tour of the Capitol Building and you can ask your representative for tickets to the gallery to watch Senate proceedings.
