Ok, I'm a huge disney nerd so I'm pretty sure I will love this tour. I plan on purchasing the Premium Annual Pass to cover both WDW and DLR so I should be getting 20% off my tours. Here are my questions:

Did you enjoy it?

Did you feel like this time could have been better spent just riding the rides?

How was the lunch?

It says you get to ride two Disney classic rides- Is this accurate?

How much is the tour?

We will be there for 4-5 days so we should have plenty of time to cover the parks. Thanks in advance! :)

I did this in 2010 and enjoyed so-so. Since then they have added seeing Walt's apartment which would have been cool.

We did a lot of walking to certain spots and listening to some voice clips of Walt talking about something at that spot.

Yes, we went on two rides (JC and Tiki Room). Plus a behind the scenes portion with a CM of the Tiki Room after the show finished.

Lunch was a simple boxed lunch sandwich.

Since I was waiting for my family to show up it was time spent well because I was not really missing park time. Otherwise I am not sure missing the park time would make it worth it.

Can't remember the cost.

They had two tours a day and I think it is best to go int he PM because that is when DL is busiest. If you go in the AM it will be during prime time to get on rides with shorter lines.

HTH :wizard:

I'll be doing it on our next trip. I can't believe I've put it off for so long. Walt's Apt is limited time magic.

We did it 2 weeks ago and LOVED it!! It was our first time to DL and our first day at that park (we did CA the day before) I thought it would be a nice way to acquaint ourselves with the park. Plus my son absolutely loves Diney and want to be an Imagineer so this was a nice surprise for him to be able to go in Walt's apartment. We had such a great tour guide. We learned some new things and had such a lovely time. We rode PP, which was nice to be able to skip the line. The railroad and Mr. Lincoln were the 2 others. The lunch at Jolly Holiday was quite good. They reserve tables for tour guests and your lunch is laid out for you with your name on it. The pins you get at the end are such a treasure. I would highly recommend it. The cost was about 100 each(non discount price)

Thank you! and everyone else! We will def do the tour.. I will take the advice and do an afternoon tour to get to the park and do rides. :)

Have an awesome time OP!

Did you feel like this time could have been better spent just riding the rides? Never felt like that at all!

How was the lunch?
Lunch was fantastic, from Jolly Holiday. You had a choice of entree, drink and dessert. When we went in Feb 2013, we ate next to city hall at the check in area for the tours.

We rode PP and Tiki Room (IASW, DL RR were closed when we went)

How much is the tour?
I think ours was close to $90 with our AP discount

If you love Disney you will LOVE this tour. Going in Walt's apartment was worth the cost alone IMO. It was something on my bucket list and something I never thought I would EVER get to experience. It was a very amazing and heart warming experience for me. Have a great time!

On the afternoon tour, what time do you eat? Is it lunch, or closer to dinnertime? Trying to figure out if we'll need to have lunch before the afternoon tour.

I've called the tour department twice and both times they said the Walt tour is always in the morning, but I hope I'm wrong! I will definitely be doing this tour in October!

Thanks OP for starting this!

We did Walk in Walt's Footsteps on Sunday, April 27th at 2:30. The food was at the end so it was like an early, light dinner for us.

Great! I think I'll try for afternoon!

One thing I tell people about doing the tour during the Holiday time is that the lamp in Walt's apartment will not be in the window (it will be a small Christmas Tree instead). Some might not care but I know for others that lamp is a very special symbol of Walt.

We did the tour in November 2012, pretty soon after they changed it to include the apartment. The lamp was in the room but off to the side (so it didn't show up in our picture). I think in a report from last year (during Holiday time) someone noted that the lamp was placed closer to the window so that it would show up in their pictures.

Ah thanks for the information, I will still do the tour. It'll be first time to DLR for me to celebrate 21st and may not go back for a few years since Paris is only a 2 hour Eurostar away and DLR is a 12 hour flight!

If they're still offering this tour next time we go, I may actually do it. I just hate to spend extra money to miss prime riding time (we always ride the busiest rides first thing in the morning before the park gets packed) for a morning tour. If they're offering a 2:30pm tour then, that would be perfect, in my opinion.

I've heard nothing but good things about this tour since they added seeing Walt's apartment to it.

Would you recommend this tour for two girls ages 12 and 9? They are "Disney kids' having been to WDW multiple times. When we were at Disneyland in 2010, we did the Treasure Hunt experience. They didn't like it because there was a super aggressive girl with equally agressive parents who pretty much ruined the tour for everyone else. (What bothered me the most was that the Tour Guide did nothing to stop this behavior, rather she encouraged it!)

Anyway, when I mentioned another tour to the girls they both said "no" immediately and reminded me about "Paige." I was disappointed because this tour sounds super cool to me!

Do they even allow kids as young as nine on this tour? Have you had any experience taking kids this young? I am interested in hearing what you think!

My son was 9 when we did the tour and he loved it. He is very into Disney history so this tour was great for him. There was also another boy about the same age as him on our tour.

That being said, we are Disneyland AP'ers so missing out on ride time wasn't a big deal to him. He did enjoy getting to go on PP without waiting long though ;)

We didn't tell the kids that the tour included Walt's apartment so when it came to that point in the tour, it was a surprise for them. Seeing their reaction to that was worth the price of the tour :-)
