Has anyone here done the walk from Stovalss Inn to the parks? I know you can cut through the Grand Californian to DTD. But how long does the walk actually take?
TIA!

I've done the walk many a time :)

It's about 15 minutes if you do the shortcut through the Grand Californian; I wouldn't recommend taking the long way, as that takes a loooooooooong time & you'll be tired before you even get to the Park. With that said, the shortcut is a nice walk...you walk down Disneyland Drive on a paved walkway shaded by trees, through the Grand Californian lobby (which is definitely worth seeing), then through DTD to the Park.

It seems much longer at night, though, but that's what the ART bus is for! It'll drop you off right in front of the hotel.

Spacemermaid... I think you mentioned that Stovall's still has topiaries? I was thinking, even though I am planning to stay at HoJos that I would like to see them. Do you think it is worth the walk for us to check them out? We could do it mid day even as a break from the parks one day.

Oh, we are two adults and a 4 year old and 9 year old.

Yep, Stovall's still has the topiaries! Unfortunately, the topiary garden/pool area is gated & requires a room key to access the area. You can see them through the fence, but I don't know if it'd be worth it to you to go all that way & not be able to go in and look at/have your pictures taken with them. There are a few that you can walk up to without access to the garden area, though...there's a HUGE dragon/Loch Ness Monster topiary in the median between the sidewalk and the parking lot, and a few topiary animals near the back fence. IMO, if you remember them from a long time ago, it'd be worth it to see them if you were driving or taking the ART bus, but if you had to walk all the way from Hojo's, you may be a bit disappointed to not be able to actually get into the garden area. If you check out the reviews on Tripadvisor, I and a couple of other reviewers have posted lots of pictures of the topiaries...that way you can see them without having to walk all that way :thumbsup2

Edited to add: here's a link to the pics! :

Thanks! I really enjoyed looking at the pictures. I have never stayed there or even been to DL but my older sister who will be with us was there loooong ago. I'm pretty sure she sent us a postcard from there because when you shared that other postcard it looked so familiar. It may not have been the exact same scene but if it wasn't, it was close. Man, I miss the sixties and I only caught the last few years of them, LOL. Maybe one day we will stay there. I chose HoJo's because of the pool for the little ones.

No problem :thumbsup2

That postcard is a collectable now! If it had the topiary treees on it, it was from either the Inn of Tomorrow (now Stovall's) or the Apollo (no longer in existance). The hotels were still around in all their original 60's-style space age glory until the late 80s/early 90s...though I WISH I could've seen them in the 60's! Here's a link to a bunch of postcards of motels in the Disneyland area in the 50's/60's; maybe you'll see the postcard she sent there! It's: http://picasaweb.google.com/milothedj2/AnaheimMotels#

I'm sure you'll enjoy your stay at Hojo's! It's also still got some "space age" style, and the kids will love the pool play area!

Wow! Thanks for that link. I loved going through all the pics of those postcards. I'm pretty darn sure it was the Inn of Tomorrow. I wish I could time travel. I wish they'd kept that totally cool lobby/hall with all the mobiles hanging. Just an amazing trip back in time. I'm all for refurb... as long as it is all exactly the same but fresher, LOL.

Really cool.:thumbsup2
