Walk from Epcot to Boardwalk Resort

I can't see how a ride out of Epcot is quicker than walking. I've only done the walk perhaps twice but I made it from BW to the Food and Wine center and it took me maybe 25 minutes, only because I didn't know where I was going. Waiting for a pickup out front would be far longer. I've waited 30 minutes for a Minnie Van and then you'd pay for the ride. Uber/Lyft might be quicker but you're walking out to the parking lot. Bus is the same thing, it would take far longer to have the bus go anywhere and then figure out a way to get to BW. If you catch the boat, you can take that too if you don't want to walk that last bit from the IG (though it will take longer if no one has a walking difficulty).
Looking at Google Maps, the physical distance is about the same but the time would be far longer to get to HS and then walk back to BW is more than just walking through the IG.

If you’re are AKL, you could also take the bus to AK and then take bus for boardwalk resort. The bus ride to AK is super short.

Yes, but at that time in the morning, the buses from AK to resorts might not be that frequent. I'm casting another vote for bus to HS and walk or boat to BWI

But don’t the buses coming to drop people at AK from Boardwalk go back to the Boardwalk?

No that is not typically how it works. Usually when I have ridden a bus to any park, I’m usually dropped off at a different resort than where I came from.

If breakfast is at 10:15am. It’s probably going to be around noon by the time they do this. Buses going to resorts will be fairly frequent by this point. Lots of AK rope droppers will be leaving to head back to their resorts.

You've said you're coming from both AKL, and also Spaceship Earth. My guess is that when you said Spaceship Earth, you really meant the front entrance at Epcot.

If I was coming from AKL, and I wanted to use free Disney trans, I'd take the bus from AKL to Hollyweird, and walk to BW. The walk will be about 15 minutes, probably less.

Minnie van would be less time, and hassle, and need to build in a time buffer, so, you have a decision to make.

Another option if you're feeling like being adventurous:

From AKL, take a bus to AK, and then you'd have your choice of busses from ak to: Swan/Dolphin, Hollywood, Boardwalk, Bc/Yc. Whichever comes first. Obv Boardwalk should be the quickest once you get off the bus, but Swan Dolphin would only be a 5 minute walk. BC/Yc might only be a few minutes more. The Epcot area resorts are all pretty much next to each other, and connected by walking paths, which also go to DHS and Ep. This is why Walt charges so much for them. They are walking distance to TWO parks. I think only the Contemporary is the other resort that is walking distance to a park, but that's only ONE park, and Walt charges a bunch for that one.

I have no reason to doubt that the buses don't just go from one resort to a park and back, but have you just gone from a resort, to a park, and then just stayed on the bus, and continued on? AC break? Kid nap break? Just wondering.

Bus from AKL to DHS, it's a quick walk or short boat ride to BW. Walking is faster than the boat.

With two 5-year-olds, the trek from the entrance to Epcot to BW could take almost 30 minutes.

Does anyone know, on average, how long does it takes to walk once you get into Epcot to the Boardwalk resort going out by France? And is that the quickest route once you get to Epcot?

Just trying to get a rough estimate on time.

I agree with the PPs who have recommended taking the bus to DHS, then walking or boating to BW. This was my plan on a recent trip when I had a breakfast ADR at Yacht Club. Unfortunately, I didn’t follow through with my plan and decided to hop on an Epcot bus because the DHS line at my resort was incredibly crowded and it was cold outside. As I waited in the long security line at Epcot, I kept thinking to myself how stupid I was not to stick with my original plan. I definitely recommend getting to BW via DHS. You will not be entering the park, so you won’t have to deal with a security check. The walk from DHS to BW would probably take me 15 to 20 minutes, but allow yourself a half hour.

Approximately 10 minutes sounds about right to me. You can do it faster if you like but it depends on how much you've already been on your feet:). It's a quick walk in any case and if the boat has just left when we arrive at the dock we're always at the entrance to the hotel before the next one reaches the hotel's dock. Walking is the fastest route followed by the boat with both forms of transport being scenic.

The ability to walk to to HS and Epcot's International Gate is what really sold us on the Boardwalk Inn.

I think you have their question misconfigured?
Front of Epcot to Bw. I think they assumed they had to go into the front entrance to walk out of the IG to BW.
Front entrance of EP to BW in 10 min would be a hustle.

The fastest will definitely be an Uber. Worth checking if Uber will have 2 car seats, I know you can often request them with 1 car seat, two may be hard.

The second fastest is bus to Hollywood Studios, since you're at the front of the part it is about a 15 minute walk from there. Or you can take the bus.

The third fastest would be EPCOT. It is about a 10 minute walk from France exit to Boardwalk, getting from front of the park to that exit is probably another 10-15. (Total 20/25)

You're right; thought OP was talking about IG to BW:). Once I foolishly walked from the front of Epcot by the monorail to BW with my wheeled carry on luggage. We were switching hotels and unlike the rest of my party I dinna feel like waiting for Bell Service to take the bag. Luggage was security checked twice: once at the monorail stop for the Contemporary and then at the main gate to Epcot-that was the foolish part and thank goodness I'm a neat packer, LOL. Took me about 35-40 minutes to walk w/ luggage from one gate to the other w/o sightseeing and then I jumped on the ferry over to the Boardwalk. I'm a fast walker and having the luggage (that I was required to roll in front of me...sigh) didn't really slow me down. Still got to the hotel about 40 minutes before the rest of my party and was already settled in the new room by the time they arrived. So from Space Earth to IG could take 25 minutes at a fast pace and 35 minutes at a more leisurely stride. Add additional time to get to BW from the IG depending on whether you walk or take the boat.

I have not stayed on the bus from the resort going to the park to its next destination. My only comment was from my experience the buses do not go back to the same resorts that they picked up from. They typically go to another resort. I don’t think I have ever been dropped off at the bus stop for my resort, so that would lead to believe that same bus is not going back to my resort. I have gone for the last 15 years and I can’t ever recall the bus that picked me up go back to my resort. Have you ever had that happen to you? I’m just saying in my experience it has never happened.

IME it’s pretty common to not be dropped at the number spot for the resort I came from. For example, I could be going from AKL to DHS and my bus will drop me at the DHS stop for, say, the Poly/GF. I notice because when I’m dropped at a stop closer to the entrance, I’m pleased:-) when I’m dropped at the furthest out stop I’m not as thrilled:mad:

I enjoy those times when you are dropped off closer but don’t like when I’m dropped off all the way at the end. Thank you for you response.

Seems that the prior responses have covered all the options and I'd just add that we'd take a Minnie Van or Uber/Lyft. According to google maps it's between 3/4 of a mile and a mile from Hollywood Studios to the Boardwalk, so at least a 15 minute walk (probably more like 20 minutes) and a mile from the front of Epcot to Boardwalk, so at least a 20 minute walk. On top of that you'll have to wait for a bus to arrive at your resort, load, and get you to whichever park you go to. So probably a minimum of an hour travel time and perhaps up to 90 minutes. We had pretty good luck getting Minnie Vans our last trip and that was before they expanded the service, so that would be my plan. Even if you had a 10-15 minute wait for a Minnie Van its going to get you there much quicker than a bus/walk and without the stress (that I always experience with Disney buses) of waiting for a bus, loading, and then walking.
