Does anybody know how far a walk it is from BWV to MGM? Is it quicker to take the boat? Do they make you collapse the stroller to get on the boat?
Also, any advice on room requests? I've heard it can be a hike to the elevators, this doesn't really bother me. I would like a non smoking room on a higher floor? What are the views like?
Thanks!

The walk from BWV to MGM is about a 15-20 minute walk. It is not really any faster taking the boat because the boat stops at YC/BC, Swan & Dolphin after the boardwalk before going to MGM so it takes about the same amount of time if not a little longer on the boat, but you are in air conditioning and seated vs walking in the heat. We do both and enjoy both it all depends on how hot and tired we are which way we go. You do not have to fold up strollers to get on the boat, just roll the stroller right on the boat. Standard views at BWV are of the front enterance, or if down by the tennis courts you will have a view of the waterway to MGM and of Tower of Terror. Perferred views are of the boardwalk, the garden and the pools. The higher floors have the best views of the Illumination and Fantasmic fireworks. The only smoking villas are located on the 2 nd floor all other villas are non smoking. You will LOVE BWV it is a fantastic resort!!

imho the walk is much nocer than the boat. it takes about the same amount of time - meaning the baot is slooowwww!
the walk is beautiful, along the canal, it usually takes us about 15 minutes.

the BWV is an awesome resort! the views are all very nice, either BW view, courtyard green, Luna Park, canal, quiet pool, or the parking lot/front entrance view, even that isnt so bad cause the lansdscaping is so beautiful!

have a great time!!!:D

I am going to BWV with my family in May. We have requested a Boardwalk view, near elevators....if possible. From where can Illuminations be seen from BWV's?? Can it be seen from the Boardwalk view at all? I was there a few years ago to check out the BW and I seem to remember the BW view being of BC/YC????? are the BW veiw villas a hike to the pool? How long of a walk to Epcot too?
Thanks!!!!:D

You'll love BW no matter what view you have. The standard view is great if you don't plan on spending a lot of time in your room or if you have small kids who may have a hard time falling asleep (What? At Disney World? - see below). The preferred view of either pool is also wonderful. The preferred view of the Boardwalk itself is very nice and you can see part of Illuminations from this view, mostly the higher aerial shells - you won't be able to see any of the fireworks that are done right on top of the water or hear the music. The preferred view of the Boardwalk can also be a little noisy at night, particularly during crowded season. Even with the doors/windows/curtains closed, we still had some noise late into the evening that kept our DSs awake for a bit (not that long).

Great resort and the walk to MGM is wonderful any time other than June, July, or August! The walk to the International Gateway is only about 10-15 minutes as well - a great walk in the evening for a Canadian Beavertail! The view directly across the lake is of the BC/YC.

For the BWV, standard view and preferred view are only relevant if you are a DVC member or if you are renting points from a DVC member. If you made your reservation through CRO, there is only "one view". In other words, CRO does not distinguish between views for BWV.

DVC members have been told that view requests made by members have priority over requests made on CRO/cash reservations. Requests by DVC members are filled in the order the reservation was made - i.e., reservations made 11 months in advance have priority over those made 10 months in advance and so forth. Of course, requests due to medical needs have the higherst priority and everything is subject to availability.

About 20% of the BWV rooms have a boardwalk view. This is the most frequently requested view. There really are not boardwalk views close to the elevators. However, the rooms that overlook the "front lawn" (Boardwalk side of the BWV/BWI entrance) also have a view of Illuminations and a partial view of the Boardwalk. I believe the room assigner considers these rooms as having a boardwalk view. Some people think the boardwalk view rooms are noisy. Others say there is no noise when the patio doors are closed.

IMHO, BWV is a wonderful resort. You should have a wonderful time no matter what view you receive. Enjoy your trip!

As stated before, none of the views at BWV are bad.

Some of Boardwalk views will be able to see EPCOT and Illuminations, as will some of the "standard" views (which overlook the parking lot and front entrance).

As far as walking to MGM. Depending on where your room is located (and whether you mind taking the stairs) it is often a lot faster to walk to MGM, since the rooms get closer to MGM as you get away from the elevators.

Our rule of thumb has been, if the boat is there we will take it otherwise we walk. Since you would need to go to the front of BWV to find out, we normally walk from our room.
