Walk from Anaheim Garden Walk to Disneyland/California Adventure?

Thanks to all!! Hearing advice and experience from DISers is amazing and exactly what I was hoping and looking for!

The Cambria is a Choice brand hotel. We have so many points saved up in our Choice account because it always seems so much easier to use Hilton/Marriott/etc while traveling. From looking at Google maps it looks like quite a walk to the Toy Story lot too unfortunately, but this is only our 2nd trip so I have no real time experience at all unfortunately! We are night owls and usually close the parks so the distance and safety of the walk back is going to triumph cost of room for us but the Cambria does look VERY nice!!

Something I will say about the hotels with outside corridors is that I find the DLR hotels to be much different from other cities. When staying elsewhere I avoid motels that don't have inside corridors. It's often a sign of lower quality/safety. That's just not the case at DLR. It's a totally different atmosphere and isn't really an indicator of anything, in my opinion. Nearly everyone staying at the hotels across the street on Harbor are there for Disneyland. You'll see many of them as you walk to the parks together and back to your rooms together. I've never felt unsafe. If you're afraid of someone coming off the street to try to get into your room, that could just as easily happen with indoor hallways, unless you're staying somewhere where you have to swipe a card just to get into the building at all. If it still concerns you, asking for a room on an upper floor would help.

Can you still walk to the toy story lot and take the shuttle? We've done that from hotels near the lot.
I don't know what the current situation is but from my earlier stays at the Comfort Inn across the street from the new Cambria Hotel there was no walk-in access from that side. you would have to walk all the way up Katella to Harbor then down to the parking lot entrance opposite of Convention Way. if you were to walk that far you may as well just walk to the park entrance on Harbor. this may change because there have been reports that the cast member lot on Katella will be converted to guest parking. it that happens then there may be a walk-in entrance on Katella. still if you have to walk all the way to the current bus loading area it may be a toss up as far as just walking to the park entrance.

Just got back from a trip to Disneyland. We stayed at the Extended Stay which is very close to the hotel you are considering. Never once did I feel unsafe walking to/from the parks and most nights I was walking back on crutches past midnight. There were a few homeless people but they weren't bothersome or begging. The north route (Disney Way) goes past a CM parking lot and there were always plenty of CMs walking back to their vehicles. There is also a fire station on Clementine. Katella at night was busy with lots of employees waiting at their bus stops. The biggest complaints I have are the overgrown bushes that encroach on the pathway on Disney Way and the sidewalks being too narrow on Clementine. There are fewer people walking to the parks the more east you go, but even at night there were quite a few. The ART bus was also timely and convenient with plenty of empty seats and friendly drivers.
