Walk between DTD West Side & Marketplace

Hello!

To anyone who know, how far is the walk between DTD's West Side and Marketplace?

Is it a reasonable walk or is it better to drive between the two?

No need to drive between the two. It takes about 10 mins. or so.

I really wanted to go both areas and was hoping they were not to far apart.

It's great knowing you can easily just walk between both.

5-10 minutes depending on crowds, how many times you go across bridges you aren't supposed to and how many detours you make for photos. It's not long at all and not worth the hassle of trying to repark. The timing of course also depends on which end of each area you're going to. I think it took us 15 minutes, but that's because there were paramedics blocking our way at one point (never did find out what happened), and we fell into the other categories listed above.

The walk from one end of DTD to the other isn't bad, but the walk back to your car can be kind of a hike(depending on where you parked).

The walk is "do-able" and there are many distractions along the way to make the walk enjoyable. Please know that the Pleasure Island part with the night clubs requires an admission price after 7:00 p.m.

However, there is a walkway between the West Side and Marketplace you can take after this time.

Last time we were there there was a free boat service that crosses between the two area

It's a very quick walk, 10 minutes or less. You'll definately want to walk to check out all the sights along the way!

The boats don't stop at the West Side anymore.

One thing you may want to consider is parking near Planet Hollywood. You can either start at the West Side, and walk to the Marketplace. Then, you can go to the Disney buses. The buses coming from the resorts stop at the Marketplace, and then go on to Pleasure Island, before heading back to the resort. The past few times I was there, the buses did not stop on the West Side anymore. Hop on the first one you see, and get off at the Pleasure Island stop. Your car will be a short walk from there.

Actually, you can cut through PI between the hours of 7 pm and 9 pm without paying admission. However, if you would like to stay after 9, or walk through after 9, you will have to pay the $21.25 admission price. PI doesn't open until 7 pm.
