Walk between Doubletree hotel and Portofino Hotel?

I'm looking to walk between these hotels, Google maps is showing an extremely roundabout path.... but it looks like I could walk more directly? Never been here so any advice from the experts is appreciated!

IME there is not a decent direct path.

Hopefully this thread will garner some more discussion, since I'd love to figure out if there is indeed a more straightforward path that I just haven't found.

I think your best bet is to take the path to the entry drive to Universal Blvd, turn left and then left on Tom Williams Way. Probably what Google says too. I once walked out the back service road to Vineland, but it is not any shorter and less pleasant. There really isn't a direct way, probably by design.

Unrelated, I walked over from City Walk to what I thought was the Holiday Inn over there to pick up a rental car last week. Surprise, it is now a Courtyard by Marriott! They still had the Budget car rental place.

There is an open-ish spot on Tom Williams where in theory you could cut across the grass over to the walking path, that would take you the rest of the way into the resort. But I definitely don't think it's an official path.
