Hey all!! Haven't been here in awhile and my weight has gone up and I have become more out of shape since starting back to school.

I was looking into the Walk Away videos to slowly get back into not being out of breath just walking up the stairs.:scared1:

We are concerned with buying a treadmill right now because we may need to move in the future and will have a weight limit for household goods (military).

So any use these videos? Going outside and walking will not be an option soon since we live in Alaska.

The WATP videos are a good place to start when you are wanting to get back in the groove of things. Leslie Sansone is very positive and you can choose how many miles you want to walk, depending on the video, and work up from there.

You might want to buy one and see how you like it. I have three or four -- 2 miles, 3 miles, 4 miles and an express 2 miles. I rotate between them. As you get more fit you may need something more intense but I would give one a try and decide from there.

As you progress, you may want to try some other video workouts, too, like Biggest Loser but watch out for Jillian Michaels The Shred -- it is a toughie!

It may take you awhile to figure out what will work for you. I know it is hard when you live in a place where the weather doesn't cooperate for months at a time. ;)

Good luck!

THanks for replying:thumbsup2 I may look around on ebay some more and see if I can get a couple for cheap just in case I end up not liking them.

I am def. looking for something slower until I can work myself up.

I do have a WII fit and may give that a go too. I can't get into it though and thought it was a little TOO easy.

I do own some exercise equipment, including a TM, but I still use some of the WATP DVDs. My treadmill is in my bedroom, so if I get up early and someone is still sleeping, I can go downstairs and do a DVD or use the Wii Fit without waking anyone.

I do have to make an effort to make the WATP a good enough workout, though. I use 5 lb ankle weights and 1 lb wrist weights (in addition to the hand weights she uses in some of the workouts). That, combined with doing at FULL intensity, is usually enough to bring on a good sweat and get me breathing hard.

I also do some circuit training the also involves just some hand weights

Target sells the WATP DVDs for $14.99. Not a bad deal and I truly haven't found anything much better on Ebay once you factor in shipping. Anyhow, good luck with your new exercise program.....P

Borders has a selection of them for 9.99 this month. They are special editions and I found them in the regular DVD section (the rest were in a separate exercise section in the store).

The first one we ordered was Get Up and Get Started (1 mile) with the High Calorie Burn (2 mile). The local library had a couple that we could view before ordering.

Thanks for the reply! Our closest target is about 7 hours but I will check online. I am watching a couple on ebay too.

Wish we had a Borders but nope. i will check them online too though. Always good for a deal:laughing: Oh, and the library is a great suggestion that completely slipped my mind:woohoo:

I have used WATP and found them useful. You put in whatever effort you can and as you get stronger just increase your effort.

I've also had some friends do good with The Firm workout exercise dvds. Do you have a local library that might have some exercise dvds to try?

Good for you wanting to get yourself moving! You can do it!

Netflix has a lot of videos to rent. This way you can try them out before you buy.

I am going to try the base library but it is teeny tiny.

OHHH!! Netflix! Great idea! For some reason I didn't even think of them!!!

I have about 6 WATP DVD's and found they work great for me. When I first started the DVDs a year or more ago, I actually gained weight the first couple of weeks. Luckily I had pulled out the old tape measure and wrote down some stats before starting. After 2 weeks I had lost 3 in. off my waist, and gradually whittled my way down to a easy size 6. I figured....not too shabby for a 50yr. old ex-fat chick.
Many people have said how thin my legs and hips are. The only downfall....I have no butt anymore. I did add in some pilates (sp?) for extra toning.
I gained a few pounds this summer due to DH being off work for two months (he's such a great outdoor griller) and an emergency apendectomy (sp?) in July and a DxDDP trip to WDW. I have pulled my DVDs out again and try to get in 2 mi. a night and 100 situps and squats.
Good luck and please let me know how your doing.
PS........I do remember ordering a couple of my DVD's on Amazon.

I have noticed a big change in m legs and hips as well. I do the elliptical and the Wii Fit too. Did the 3 mile workout this morning. I hope to get the 3 mile in tomorrow too before I have to go out for the day. If I have time I'll also do the 2 mile tomorrow evening. I've also been doing, at least the last two days, 50 crunches and 50 reverse crunches. I did 100 pushups yesterday and I've done 20 today.
I wish my butt would go away. That and my belly roll!

Sounds like you have a good system going.:thumbsup2 I know what ya mean about the belly roll....still working on that. I thought all the situps would help...but I still need to do some old fashion dieting, to get back to where I was 6 months ago. Keep me posted on your success. Terri

I bought one WATP DVD, used it once and that was it. Wish I could give it to you! I have a Nordic Track and a stationary bike in the basement, so I've been trying to do my cardio workouts on those at least every other day. I also started doing the 30 Day Shred (Jillian Michaels) DVD again. That's a combination of cardio and strength training. The cardio is done only 2 minutes at a time for 3 circuits, but it's a good workout. Who knew 30 seconds of jumping jacks could be such a butt kicker!

I don't have any experience with the 30 Day Shred...I may need to check that one out. I like to try different DVDs, change things up, to keep my interest. But I must say I like having the WATP DVDs to fall back on.
