Can anyone tell me where Wal-Mart is located please?

We are staying at Hyatt regency Grand Cypress ( near LBV)

There is also one on the Osceola Parkway - it was brand new when we went last February. It is quite far along the Parkway, towards Buenaventura Lakes area, but we found it much more pleasant and quieter than the one on the 192.

Cath:)

I'll have to remember that one Cath, but this year since our villa is only a 2 minute drive from the 192 one, we'll have to make do with the gigantic queues and only 3 tills open!
By the way, there's also one down hwy27 near Davenport for those of you in villas in that neck of the woods...

It's actually in Haines City which takes 13 minutes from our home at Hampton Lakes, so its about 15-16 minutes from the 192/US 27 intersection.

Wal*Mart are reported in the Orlando Sentinel as proposing to build one about half a mile north of this intersection, so we'll only be 3 or 4 minutes away, when(if?) it opens:D :D :D

Click here for a list of the nearest stores to HRGC. According to this, the one on the 192 and the one on S John Young Parkway are equidistant. Follow the links for directions from HRGC.

You're quite right Malcolm, it is Haines City. That Walmart was far quieter than 192, and strangely we found the tax charged at the end of the bill was at a lower rate than the 192 one (can't remember the rates now though!).

Each county has different tax rates - Orange, Osceola, Polk.

Disney is in Osceola county and Universal in Orange, Haines City in Polk ( I think) and they all have different rates of tax - not sure what they are - 5, 6 or 7%?

Don't know what county Universal is in, but Disney is definately in Orange County...

... EXCEPT the All-Star Restorts, which are in Osceola.

I only remember this because someone once posed the question on these boards as to why they paid a different sales tax in one part of Disney as to another. So someone dug out a map and found that the border of the two counties cut across the bottom corner of the resort.

Anyway - in Orange County, sales tax is 6.5% on goods, 11.5% on hotel rooms, while is Osceola it is 7% on goods and 12% on rooms.

Polk County tax is 6% on goods; 10% on Transient rentals ie hotel rooms and villa rentals.

Both rates are to increase by 0.5% in September (for the next 15 years I believe!) to pay for additional school construction.
