Anyone familiar with these??

I have been subbing at the local high school for Disney money for our June trip and been thinking about cashing these checks and putting that money on this card, then using it on our trip.. Are there fees other than the $3 to buy the card??

Do you mean like a MC, Visa or American Express card they sale?

There are some fees associated with the card -- but no more than what some banks out there may be charging.

I believe WM will let you cash your checks for free if you let them load it on the card. Also, I understand the monthly fee can be waived with a direct deposit (I would set-up a $10 DD to see if it works).

IMO, it's a good way to take your money to WDW without fear of losing/compromising your everyday bank card.

Thanks.. Just looking for something that I can stash the Disney money on without being tempted to spend it on other things.. And then just take it with us to Disney, maybe even have enough to pay for tickets and the dining plan..

But I don't want to spend $50 on fees over the next 5 months to do this.. :)

Besides the $3.00 fee when you purchase the card, there is a $3.00 fee every time you put more money on this card as well!

Our Walgreens now sell Disney gift cards. Maybe this would be a better option for you. Never expire and no fees and can be used to pay for room to food.

From what I understand, that $3 fee can be waived if you give WM your payroll check to put on the card.

Disney Gift Cards are becoming quite common at the nation's grocery/drug chains. If the money was being spent "exclusively" on WDW, I would suggest this, first...

...however...

...this is a gift card, which has way less protections than the WM Money Card (Visa). In other words, if the Disney GC was lost or stolen, how quickly could you shut if off against unauthorized use?

I think this is the card I bought for a freind's daughter as a gift. Had a nightmare of a time when she tried to use it. Apparently I had to activate it with a code from my receipt (which they never told me and I had thrown out already!). I'd stick with a prepaid Visa from Walgreens. The fee is a little higher I think, maybe $4.95 instead of $3, but well worth it in aggravation costs!

I think with the Wal-Mart card, even if they aren't charging the $3 to load a check, they are charging $3 to cash the check. Might look at Walgreens to see if they sell the Disney cards around here. Or just buy a GC at the Disney Store and load that up..

The ones my company sells has an activation fee (for original purchase) and a reload fee. You may be able to purchase from your bank for free. We have TD bank and they do not charge.
